“...Into the Gray[...] weaves a story of love, loss, and the magic of in-between places. [...]A compelling heartfelt journey about family, sisterhood, friendship, and how letting go—even when it's the hardest thing to do—is a kindness we all deserve."

“There are many things we are uncertain of on this planet, like what happens after death, the possibility of life outside our solar system, and the existence of lesbian sheep” from Bianca Torre is Afraid of Everything by Justine Pucella Winans

Such a good first line imo. #kidlitchat
TOPIC: While we're still thinking about fresh beginnings, what are some of your all-time favorite first lines in children's books? ("Where's Papa going with that ax?" is already taken!) And what do you think makes a first line really grab the reader? #kidlitchat

Today I visited the library to pick out some very epic early middle grade graphic novels, and now I’m gonna start studying them in preparation for my “Brittany and Timmy” graphic novel project! 🥳

For first drafts, I tend to have a basic understanding of how I want the story to end. It isn’t a super detailed ending, but enough of an idea for me to know when to stop writing. I do find the ending and overall plot of my stories get more detailed the more I draft #kidlitchat
TOPIC: Let's talk endings here at 2025's end. Do you know how you're going to end your story when you start? Do you know the ending first? Do you have tricks/tips for making your story's ending as satisfying as possible? #kidlitchat

Painitte on Instagram drew this really cute piece of my characters Brittany, Timmy, Poppy, and Sally as a part of a Secret Santa exchange I’m a part of!

Jesse Hamm had the take to end all takes on children's media. "People who disdain writing ‘just for children’ fail to realize that those children will remember what they read, maybe for the rest of their lives. You’re not writing for permanent children; you’re getting an early start on adults.”

I hope this is true! It would be epic to get some Christmas movie collabs

I created this edit of my characters Brittany, Timmy, and Poppy using Fusion 9! The end result looks pretty funky.

Writers, especially those who write kidlit, I think we need to have a conversation about using parents not telling their child something to “protect them” and why this doesn’t really work especially today.
Does this happen? Yes. And do we see it continuing to happen? Yes.
