I’m currently working on this piece featuring my character Brittany

#BrittanyandTimmy #dailyocs
For my main book project, I have it set during the fall. Autumn brings me feelings of comfort and also change, the familiar landscape of the main character’s home is comforting to her but also her and her friends lives are about to change due to them discovering a portal. #kidlitchat

Tamberlane
A comic about a community of fuzzy woodland critters who find a human child... and have no idea what it is!

I know I'm missing context but children deserve art, and they deserve adults who act like there is a future. If trans and queer people are making that art, it is already in and of itself an act of protest in our climate. Imagine saying writing for children is "selling out" in this age of book bans.
I blocked this idiot, but I thought this stupidity deserved to be preserved via screencap.

“Writing for children makes you a sellout who has abandoned the trans community. So does not being as loudly and visibly trans as possible in every waking moment. Being happy means you aren’t really queer.”
I would love for this to be made into an actual book!
Also for dreading, I don’t have a lot of experience with writing queries. I did it a few times for practice but I don’t feel super comfortable with it yet. Maybe down the road when I actually start querying I’ll feel better about it. 4/4
A neat thing I find is that writing out a synopses can point out flaws in your story that you need to fix. I found that to be the case for my story. 3/4
As for tips for log lines, following a template is pretty good. You can easily find those by looking them up.

Synopses are kinda tricky, but essentially you just gotta find a way to boil down the basics of your plot so it can be explained shortly while also keeping it interesting. 2/4
#kidlitchat I have a little bit of experience with each of these things, but the ones I have the most confidence with is log lines and synopses. I wrote a bunch of them, and with the feedback I got from some epic writers I’m definitely getting better at them. 1/4
TOPIC: Queries, pitches, log lines, synopses, comps--all the stuff that someone other than you needs to see (sometimes before they agree to see your work itself!). What are you especially good at? What do you dread? Any tips for coming up with good versions of any of those steps? #kidlitchat

Mourning those murdered by Hamas isn't incompatible with mourning those murdered by the Israeli state.

Demanding that the hostages return isn't incompatible with naming & demanding an end to genocide.

Naming the power imbalance & impact thereof doesn't desecrate those murdered two years ago today.
Here is the time lapse for this piece!
Brittany running around the park while flying a pretty epic kite!

Day 2 of #peachtober , kite!
Definitely getting published one day 🥳
