i have been going through old playlists and checking to see what new tracks they have put out

i am detecting a pattern

you can also download track metadata from various online data sources is in the File menu

actually i (partly) take back what i said about it being less powerful

Kid3 has some WILDLY powerful abilities that surpass just about anything else out there, it just requires digging into the manual a bit

you can not only tag your tracks from filename and vice versa but you can also use regex!

it is not a perfect replacement, especially with its very strange double-stack file/directory view that i have learned to live with but do not understand, like the haunted doll living in my house

but it might make editing audio file tags a little easier as many of us enter the post-streaming era

ANSI art mockup of the mech speed over time graph made with Moebius and Playscii

both have a lot of weird limitations, hopefully i can find one that lets me control the palette directly at least

i am considering doing a lot of the game UIs something like this as it would fit with the setting

something like this where a fully loaded mech is in this merlot color and and unloaded mech is in this kind of dark teal

the overlap takes on this kind of gray-lavender when the unloaded layer is set to overlay

distinct without being distracting

mockup of a mech speed-over-time chart

the goal is to gently show ranges instead of lots of different lines competing for the player's attention

a real chart would show reaching the build's top speed at different times rather than all of them continuing to rise until the end of the chart

#41 Brogue

fuck it, more classic roguelikes

while it uses ASCII character it is distinct in how colorful, dynamic, and animated it is, water shimmers

with short descriptions of vistas as you enter new environments

simpler than Nethack but much more atmospheric

#40 POWDER

this is a little classic roguelike originally developed for the Gameboy Advance and is also available on the DS, Linux, macOS, and Windows

the UI is optimized for small screens making it great for pocketable handhelds

it is free and open source

#9 Nethack

the best game i have never beat and probably never will

a classic roguelike where the developers thought of everything, more possibilities and interactions than any other game of its type

free and open source since 1987 and still getting updates!

a DDoS attack against Codeberg

now who would want to take down Codeberg immediately after they got press for a major project leaving Github for them 🤔
December 2, 2025 at 10:39 PM
i decided to start moving stuff over to my existing Codeberg account and it immediately goes down

i guess everyone else had the same idea

the only piracy that matters is corporate piracy

the first science fiction film was made in France and stolen by corporations for profit in the US, one of the factors that drove that early studio out of business

woke up from a dream that abruptly turned into a nightmare

the more well known segments of the baseline test were referenced in it but in looking it up in my notes this is the part that hits home now

one of the only things i miss from Windows is Sysinternals Process Explorer

the GUI and TUI tools available for Linux are generally hilariously incompetent

like Gnome's System Monitor failing to understand how to sort grouped processes by CPU usage and trying to see open files crashes it lol

it has been like a week and there is still an un-deletable notification on Github for a banned crypto scam account

the notification is not displayed, cannot be selected, and the UI has no way to deal with this

it just lives here now, forever

some excerpts from the article, including quotes from the paper

three of the authors working at OpenAI and a fourth at Georgia Tech

they are confirming what everyone already knew

but the fact that they have presented mathematical proofs is huge

"Intel has physically fused off AVX-512 on later revisions of Alder Lake CPUs manufactured in early 2022 and onward."

ayy what the fuck?

AVX-512 instruction support is a fucking nightmare

the *style* is not the problem, but how difficult to read at a glance it is

but tell me why when characters are revealed their faces get hidden??

why unconfirmed roles are the same color and style as confirmed ones except for question marks that are kind of hard to tell which they belong to?
