Ashes were stolen today from a home in Chestermere, along with an iPad. The iPad was last pinged in Calgary. The family is pleading to get the ashes back.

My brother’s house was broken into this morning at 9:35am in The Cove in Chestermere and among other things, my mom’s ashes were stolen. We are beside ourselves and need your help. We need to get the word out as quickly as possible and for whoever has her to return them or turn it anywhere that can get her back to us. There is information inside the velvet bag that will identify it as her, information for the funeral home, etc. An iPad was stolen and the last known ping was in NE Calgary on McKnight Blvd and Aviation Blvd. It is a red velvet bag and inside is a dark brown/black faux leather box that is stitched more than what is in the photo, but this is the closest I could find. It has a metal clasp and the box is taller. PLEASE help us get our mom back, my cell is 403-869-4694.

21 years. 21 years ago I moved to AB from NS and ever since then I've been somewhat settling for good fish and chips. Calgary has some ok places that scratched my itch when needed, but nothing I would say is as good or better than back home. Mom and dad are both from NF and mom had 12 siblings. All of her male siblings were commercial fishermen and because of that, we ate seafood every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at our house. That went on from the age of 3 or 4 and continues to this day at their place. . Well, today I gave Off the Hook a try. Its been talked about on here lots, so you're likely tired of hearing about it, but whatever. And i used to post on here a lot, but havent the last year or 2 as nothing ever seems to get me that excited these days. Off the Hook changed that for me today. Sitting inside i could have easily thought I was in Peggy's Cove or some other small fishing community on the east coast. I got a 2 piece halibut and chips, with a side of gravy, coleslaw and a dinner roll with butter. The fries are home cut which is a HUGE plus in my books and the batter to fish ratio was fantastic. My daughter got the poutine which again, home cut fries and actual cheese curds. And the portions were HUGE! They also offered Pollock (no thanks), cod or salmon. They also had full bodied bar clams for those that know! The lady working was an absolute gem of a person. She was super sweet and told us the history of the business and all about herself.and the owners. When we left my daughter commented that she hasn't seen me that excited about fish and chips ever in AB and not since we visited NS last summer for 10 days where I went on a seafood and donair bender. And she also commented about how sweet the lady that served us was. By the time we left I even got my maritime accent back.
