I know.

I’m just salty bcs I was like “maybe Metra should run more than one train per hour on this quad track line” and a bunch of people were rushing to comment on how it’s actually not technically possible to do so.

Subway Builder is so funny, because there’s no reason my 26th/31st St crosstown line from King Dr to Cicero should be as successful as it is lol

24 HOUR CTA ORANGE LINE!!!!!!!!

Should I start a medium or substack or something like that? Not entirely sure what exactly I’d talk about, but definitely transit related

I was proud to join @mayorbmscott.bsky.social this morning to unveil the Naloxone OneBoxes installed at @mta.maryland.gov Penn North Metro. We're partnering with Baltimore City to provide access to lifesaving resources across our system & providing training for employees. #SeriousAboutSafety
Today, MTA joined @mayorbmscott.bsky.social to unveil the 1st Naloxone OneBox at the Penn North Metro Subway Station. This partnership with the City of Baltimore expands access to life-saving resources across our system & reinforces our shared commitment to protecting every rider, every day.

Fare-free can be good for small to medium transit agencies (especially not great ones like GRTC) that weren’t bringing in much in farebox revenue in the first place.

Curious to know if the increase in ridership is from former/would-be car trips vs trips that would’ve been walked/biked otherwise.
Alexandria & Richmond, Virginia have both implemented free bus service, as Mamdani has proposed.

They have also succeeded in increasing ridership—as of latest data, their ridership in 2025 is 31% & 25% higher than in 2019, respectively.

Overall US transit ridership is 20% lower in 2025 than 2019.
Abigail Spanberger takes a swipe at Mamdani, saying "maybe he should be a Democrat" and that his campaign promises are dishonest.

Ok, time to be more active on this app lol

Unfortunately a waste of a transit center. While connections across the Stevenson aren’t great, the 307 will one day be extended to Pace SW &/or Bridgeview Courthouse as Pulse Harlem, & there’s really no other route to send here that makes sense (unless demand for 379 short trips starts cropping up)

99. Physical media is good, and if you're not going to get into vinyl and celluloid you should at least get into CDs and books.

Chicago in subway builder is hilarious because you can just use the various Metra ROWs and have your lines go gangbusters for cheap lol
November 3, 2025 at 3:34 PM
Reservations about the NITA aside, it’s nice to have a fully funded CTA (and Metra & Pace). Excited for what service can be improved now!

So weird to be waiting at MDW for a flight to LGA and not DCA/BWI

Took the Hiawatha for the second time yesterday and I’m even more convinced there needs to be a stop in Gurnee. Perfectly situated btwn downtown Waukegan, Gurnee Mills and Six Flags, I’m sure the ridership projections would go gangbusters

MDW still detouring orange line passengers thru baggage claim lol

It’s so funny that Passengers United claims to be a transit advocacy organization when they literally never support an expansion of transit service. This is nonsense.

We don’t use this rhetoric for streets & expressways (or, I suppose, we’ve just now started), and folks there can often be less at fault than anyone hit by a Brightline train

I don’t understand the need to carry water for those who deride common sense and actively seek Darwin awards
Somewhere deep in the bowels of Brightline’s org chart there is a guy, and this guy has about the same job as the narrator in Fight Club, weighing the cost of safely running a railroad against the cost of letting people get hit by trains all day, and that guy decided safety was just too expensive.

Everyone is clamoring to use this as a “see, NYC can do it to” ignoring that:

- MTA has already replaced its fare boxes; Ride-On has not
- MTA doesn’t have a 20% farebox recovery ratio
- MTA operates more than buses

Free buses/transit makes sense for small/medium localities— NYC is not that

Or just a really nasty anti-urban/city streak in politics. You really see it in PA and Maryland politics. Nevermind they’re the economic engines for the state; they’re crime ridden and full of freeloaders and are in dire need of reform and re-education etc etc

I’m extremely biased, but yes! Or just done median for both platforms
They really should have built L’Enfant Plaza Metro with the median (not side) platform for the G/Y lines, not the B/O/S lines, given that some folks might want to travel, eg, from Alexandria to Navy Yard!

Good news Chicago! Changes to CTA routes are happening that will result in increased service and new connections. Take a read, esp if you ride the 53, 53A or 93!:

At a relatively peaceful, productive meeting, CTA board approved bus route changes, Narcan machines, track safety pilot - Streetsblog Chicago
In some ways, today’s CTA board meeting wasn’t as dramatic as the May one. Unlike last month, Ald. David Moore (17th) wasn’t there warning the directors that they would be “backbiting snakes” if they ...

At some point, we’re going to have to (re)learn to be comfortable with temporarily inconveniencing folks to adequately serve the needs of many
SAS Phase 2 going with an under-station mezzanine and NO stairs/escalators to the surface is a bold move, Cotton.

JFC, harden the bike lane or ban left turns (or both!). These half measures are not enough
gotta be one of the most useless bike lanes cdot has ever painted

Just… woah. Honestly at a loss for words
TRB is dissolving all committees. This wasn't unexpected, but they're couching it in a technocratic need to "get back to basics" and ease administrative burden when in fact it's a great big shit sandwich that we're all expected to eat and not make a fuss about.

So, the CTA officially at DEFCON 1 lol?
