I’m really honestly forever shaken that they didn’t make the high elves who went with Alleria through the dark portal into void elves (the ones at the stronghold survived but what about everyone else when the planet blew up?). Its SO petty. Like this is all totally the result of someone who just wants red high elves and resents people who give a shit about the belfs. Like the heritage armor and the guards were updated yeeeeeears after TBC and the artists then thought green was still ok so??

I think a lot of it comes back to some of the issues that have been plaguing WoW for the past decade: the morality of the narrative is dictated by the Alliance.
Midnight, even as an expansion centering around Silvermoon, focuses on Alliance protagonists delivering the themes.

Horde character acts all sad and mopey about the past. Alliance character cheers them up by talking about how great things are. Horde character agrees 'power of friendship'

The Arcantina was a bad idea, especially with a writing team so terrified of having anything that could be even considered a conflict or conflicting viewpoints

I’d also add that the blood elves in MoP displayed a mentally that was evolved from TBC while also maintaining the cool fantasy we liked
It's just weird that all the interesting moral ambiguity of the blood elves has been not only stripped away, but packaged into an Alliance race for the purpose of justifying it only with specific magic types.
It's nice to see progression, but some things don't need to be *solved* in an MMO.

I'll always remember how psyched lorthemar was when they find the blood magic anima robots in mop, seems so alien and strange now.
They boiled them down into gold powered elves because their counterparts are purple powered.

The scarlet crusade is good but we’re deleting blood elf warlocks from the game and forcing you to play a void elf if you’d like to play a blood elf who uses fel. The alliance is welcome to necromancy, fel, and void magic, unlike the horde
