Cook County’s troubled tech overhaul boils over, as political leaders start pointing fingers
The latest delays to the Cook County property tax system upgrade by controversial contractor Tyler Technologies is leading to fighting among county leaders.

I can't get this across enough. Everyone in Cook County, you have to vote for Kaegi in March.

Tell your friends, neighbors, coworkers.
My opponent, Pat Hynes, took $25,000 from a MAGA Trump donor whose family cheered when ICE killed Alex Pretti.

The Loquercios has given $372,000+ to Trump, McConnell, Graham, and others.

Democrats shouldn't take money from MAGA donors or people who celebrate murder. Return it.

I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

When countries get hooked on US tech, their governments are constrained in reining in tech’s harms while most of the economic benefits accrue to the United States.

It’s time to break out of that trap — but that means challenging the Silicon Valley model, not creating our own digital colonizers.

This is another thing making me lose my mind.

Not only was this guy a trainer, but so is the CBP agent who shot a woman 5 times in Chicago. These ARE THE TRAINERS. More time with them is not going to help.
Ross was a FIREARMS TRAINER.

The shooter who is making them want to freeze funding is the one who does the training.
If the Dems vote to increase ICE funding for "better training" (overseen by whom? accountable to what?) I will never give a single Dem a single penny ever again

I do not know what to say that there had to be a massive coordinated effort to get a hearing on how much our tax $ should be used to brutalize people with whistles in their pajamas in order to protect armed federal agents operating on extralegal orders.

This is generalization but not exaggeration.

5,465 (97%) did not attend either

Often, holidays mean fewer, colder meals.

I finally got an answer back from CPD on Carlos Baker’s status. He’s the cop who fatally shot his partner, allegedly shortly after she ended their relationship.

“Officer Baker is on Active Status, assigned to the 6th District and Detailed to Unit 376.”

376 is the Alternate Response Section.
So: a walking embodiment of ACAB who, even by pro-cop standards, should never have made it past probation and at best killed someone by incompetence and will cost the city milliions is technically still employed and no coverage I've found says if he's getting paid or not.
Not fired, just relieved of his police powers. It could take years to actually fire him.
