Londoner living in Puglia & enjoying a new Italian life but not yet unplugged from UK politics & current affairs. Hate Brexit, the Tories & now Reform but very enthused by ‘Zackitivism’ & the Greens! It’s a long story but had to start Bluesky again.
Very poor performance from BBC Chair Samir Shah today. Time for him to jog on too. Zero leadership, dithering & glacially slow decision making & procrastination. No wonder Robbie Gibb is running rings around him & BBC Board. Let’s end political appointees Lisa Nandy & get rid #SavetheBBC

#strictly Fantastic opening group dance with the Strictly Allstars tonight at Blackpool. Danny Mac has still got all the right moves. Fabulous

La Voix was missed on #strictly tonight and it’s sad she’s not returning. Am going to miss those Tess jibes
La Voix has withdrawn from Strictly.

She’s posted this to Instagram.

Looks like @zackpolanski.bsky.social is on again this week. Right now his presence is the only reason to watch this or any tv political show

Best dance of the night for me is the Paso from Karen & Carlos. With no previous dance experience she was fearless & quite brilliant #strictly

I must have been watching a different dance. George’s salsa was not worthy of 10’s #strictly

I don’t enjoy the couples choice dances but Alex @ Jojo created an engaging dance tonight. They are all getting a little too personal for me each week. Let’s focus on the dancing #strictly

#strictly Fabulous opening to the show with the iconic Steps. Loved it

A total con-man representing Reform UK set up by white rich right wing men & enabled by a desperate & shameless RW rich brown man
This is vital context to Zia Yusuf's attacks on @zackpolanski.bsky.social.

Few people have paid attention to how Yusuf made his millions.

He sold "ultimate luxuries" to the mega rich.

Yusuf is desperately trying to torpedo the idea that him and his mates should be taxed.
Before Reform, Zia Yusuf was a digital butler to the super rich
How Yusuf made his money...

Eloquently put …..
Piggy, horseface, nasty woman, bleeding from her wherever, bad ombré, fake news, failing and more…

… all from a guy who shits himself, can’t spell/pronounce words, dyes his skin orange, has a combover that’s fooling no one, lies about his health exams and is a 34 count convicted felonious rapist

This is so true & well put …
What the Labour Party used to understand was that it wasn’t that immigration was tearing the country apart, but that immigration was what was holding the country together. Immigration kept our NHS going, our transport system going, our education and much more.

It’s still true. They must know it.

I see that legislation to stop the sale of wet wipes containing plastic will be coming into force in UK in 18 months to combat ‘fat bergs’. Having lived in France & now Italy since 2020 I am a total convert to the use of the bidet. It is so civilised! We Brits are squeamish but they work & are green

So Trump is now authorising the release of the #epsteinfiles as essentially he knows he will probably lose the vote but we will all believe that this is what he wanted to do all along 😹

This …..
RefUK and the right wing media have succeeded in normalising hate and envy of immigrants, of saying asylum seekers fleeing war or persecution are scroungers. I don’t think I have ever agreed with Stephen Yaxley-Lennon before but he is correct: the Overton Window has moved - Labour policy moved it

The Westminster @teamlabouruk.bsky.social is on track to ruin the election chances for @scottishlabour.bsky.social next year it would seem. The SNP are turning it round as progressives jump ship
🧵 / With less than six months until the Scottish Parliament election, the SNP are the party Scots are most likely to consider voting for

SNP: 37% would consider
Greens: 27%
Lib Dems: 26%
Labour: 23%
Reform UK: 21%
Conservatives: 15%
'Your Party': 15%
Alba: 8%

Alex Norris the Labour minister doing the news round today on TV and radio sounds like a total Tory. He is an automaton without an ounce of compassionate nuance in his voice or demeanour. Is this Blue Labour? I hate it

It was bad luck for Vicki that she had a jive this week. A tough dance for most people of the celebs #strictly

Major beneficiaries of the new Labour policy? Reform.

Secondary beneficiaries? Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, Plaid Cymru

Major losers? Labour, the U.K., humanity.

More cruel immigration policy making from our Home Secretary today being played out on the Sunday front pages & news programmes. When are we going to talk about & face up to our future need for workers as we are not having babies anymore. We will be competing for immigrants very soon I believe

I don’t think this Starmer attack strategy against Wes Streeting is working today. I am not pro Streeting but he is playing a blinder in batting this leadership speculation into touch while clearly demonstrating the comfortable, confident & authentic communication skills that Starmer lacks

Gary Lineker for Director General of the BBC. Gets my vote. 👍

bsky.app/profile/poli...
Gary Lineker: "This is the mistake the BBC makes. The BBC tries to appease the people that hate the BBC, rather than worrying about the people that love the BBC."

And this …..
‘Thanks so much for joining us on what I know is a very busy day for you. Tell me, what is your vision for the BBC as the corporation’s new director-general?’
