A refresh of my values (for anyone who cares) @bladeofthes.bsky.social got me thinking with a recent post about financial interests so a new page has been added to cover the role/stds expected in public life. As a school governor for 20 yrs and a cllr for 7 I’d like to think I meet such standards

To all the Americans who are or have been on “No Kings” demonstrations today - THANK YOU from the rest of free planet earth. The power of the people is the supreme power.
Spot on with the click bait. News driven by ad revenue is no longer reliable - there is a heavy bias towards stories/personalities that will get clicks and Farage is gold - solid gold
Slowly but surely the topic of BRI-entry is raising its head. Starmer has mentioned it, Reeves has and now Bailey. But damn, it’s slow. Very slow. But getting the idea into the national psyche and normalising it takes time.

Hey @zackpolanski.bsky.social I hear you are talking to Laura Kuenssberg tomorrow morning?

Can you ask her why this story is being exposed by a 3-week-old-old outlet @thenerve.news & not the BBC?? 🤔
NEW: Police knew a Kremlin spy ring recruited former leader of Reform Wales at least 3 years ago.

So why was Nathan Gill not charged till Feb this year?

Pls read part 2 of @thenerve.news special investigation into Nathan Gill. And please share!

I will keep banging on about this…

…because it is clear that the UK political & media class is utterly broken.

To the point whereby local democracy, trust in the police, quality analysis, honesty, and public safety are all being deliberately sacrificed.
As usual (sadly) we need to follow the money. Someone, somewhere is paying and someone is benefitting. Money is always the root cause. Always.
You’re welcome. The sad things are that it needs saying at all and that those in power are either oblivious to the consequences of their policies (ergo unfit to govern) or blindly trusting “it’ll all work out” (ergo unfit to govern)
A Reform majority in the HoC is the UKs worst nightmare. Starmer is enabling it, enhancing it and making it an inevitability the longer he stays in No 10. Polanski is a hope, a beacon of light - but he’s a long way off an 80 seat majority. Labour could be doing amazing things. But they aren’t.
Starmer is a reactor, not a leader. He drives forward on nothing, he turns every time he is asked to. Worse, he doesn’t care and he stamps on those who do - hard. His time is up. He has to go. I had such hope last year. Now I have despair that this man’s inability to lead will give us a RefUK govt
But Starmer does non of these things. He bows to the press barons, the tech billionaires and when they say jump he merely asks “how high?” It’s pathetic, it’s embarrassing and it is what happens when you have no moral compass, no direction, no vision and no plan to help those most in need of help.
Starmer could tackle the press barons head on with Leveson part 2. He could tackle the energy pricing system that makes us pay gas prices for electricity. He could tackle the water companies unwillingness to invest THEIR capital made from our money in cleaning up our rivers.
Starmer could do something about it - he could tax assets, increase public spending, build council houses, kick start the economy, insist war criminals are held to account, start the rejoining EU debate, combat the immigration lies, clean up social media
Starmer is empowering RefUK by normalising their “blame game”. Starmer blames the disabled, farmers, pensioners, those who are anti-genocide, protesters. He could blame the über-rich, their tax havens (which Labour created in the 60s), the MSM for their inability to report facts and challenge lies.
The normalising of racism and hate are my biggest disappointment in Starmer. He has a massive majority and can literally pass any laws he wishes. He has an unrivalled capacity to effect real transformation. Instead, he spends his time tinkering at the edges, picking on the needy, bowing to the rich.

So much quibbling over the OBR and the fiscal rules feels like an attempt to find an institutional fix to a political problem: the need for tax rises on middle earners.
Just jumped on to the Express website to read Calgie’s biog - basically a weasel - but noted the liberal use of so many physically incendiary words in so many political story headlines -“explodes”, “blasts”, “bombshell”. The press have so much to answer for in relation to why UK plc is a clusterf**k

Meet Nadia Sass.

This is the wife of the man who bribed Nathan Gill.

Today @thenerve.news reveals how she was a key part of the Kremlin operation that targeted not just Gill but at least 2 other MEPs and a member of the House of Lords.

Seriously.

You think if Keir Starmer had been cultivated by this woman, there would be tumbleweed across entire UK media?!?

We are stuck in a right-wing news-sphere & this story proves how dangerous that is.

For all those saying sport has no place in politics … checks notes… apartheid South Africa’s Afrikaans regime was brought down by sporting boycott and Russia is out of most world sport. Israel is different why exactly?
I guess Starmer will be kicking off over this next. Surely Sweden could just have drafted in more police - seems the venue owner didn’t want to put its staff at risk.
The Swedish government described the situation as alarming and said it has put in place a number of efforts to increase security for Jewish organisations, institutions and events.

Really surprised at the volume of progressives posting about Andrew Windsor. His lack of titles will make not one jot of difference to our country or its people nor his quality of life. It may minimally deflect embarrassment from his elder brother.
