Climate breakdown is driven by a storm of lies. This lying is systemic, funded and coordinated, and operates across almost all media, old and new.
This week's column argues that we cannot fight the climate crisis without also fighting the epistemic crisis.

Dark forces are preventing us fighting the climate crisis – by taking knowledge hostage | George Monbiot
The fundamental problem is this: that most of the means of communication are owned or influenced by the very rich, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Currently looking for #researchers or #scientist that really love research and would be interested in helping test out a new app. Any researchers welcome, but especially if you’re in #climate research.

Comment or DM if interested 😊

#Climate #researchers of BlueSky: You’re talking to someone and you find they are a climate change skeptic, and they also want to do their own research for themselves. What are the most impactful and trustworthy studies/places you would recommend starting to self educate?

Currently working on learning #atproto to build cool apps that build on the @bsky.app ecosystem. This is a test to see how the facets work in the #lexicon

The future is a web of branching paths, and each choice opens up new possibilities as it closes others. This is as true for a civilization as it is for an individual. The more our collective intelligence can inform each choice, the better our chances of finding paths through to a beautiful future.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

This is misleading: Although there is an executive order increasing lumber production, there is no statement about 280 million acres

Please correct me if you have a better source / interpretation

Democracy has a problem: It gives voting power to the collective common people, but that’s a problem when they can’t easily research the issues they’re voting on. We need to build tools to make “do your research” easier

Spending time today experimenting with the Blue Sky atprotocol. It's cool how anyone can publish a lexicon and a completely different app can use it. This makes it super easy for third party apps to use Blue Sky data, and for Blue Sky to potentially tap into cool things made by others!

We've lost our ability to communicate

As a society, we struggle to find consensus on even the most basic issues, making it harder to organize for real change.
