Calling it "treats" when ppl most hurt by price increases are the ones already unable to afford stuff? But it also underestimates how much the social contract such as it is built on being able to buy things you need when you need them and the collapse of that is extremely dangerous for the regime

My working model is that gender relations were never not-broken, there just wasn’t a way (partly) out of the ongoing atrocity of patriarchy until relatively recently. It was the peace of a well-run prison, and egalitarian gender relations are still struggling to be born.
