Venezuelans have every right to seek new leadership, but betting on U.S backed regime change is dangerous and likely to deepen the crisis. Much of Venezuela’s economic pain stems from U.S. sanctions aimed at pressuring countries that resist American imperial interests.

The U.S has no real next move here. Venezuela remains politically and militarily intact. If oil is the objective, the only option left would be an invasion but that wouldn’t yield the results you see in sectarian Middle Eastern states. It would unify Venezuela and become a quagmire for Washington.
