This is illegal. Trump and Republicans shut the government down, and now they are resorting to unlawful threats to try and cover up their recklessness.
Scoop: White House memo says furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to backpay
A move to deny backpay to up to 750,000 furloughed workers would dramatically escalate Trump's pressure on Democrats to end the shutdown.

Rushed to the Farmer’s Market this morning because I thought it was the last day, but apparently there’s one more weekend!

Also got TWO compliments on my Bikini Kill tee (including one from a lady I was very much not expecting such a compliment from—never judge a book!). Yay small wins!

#MonsterTheEdGeinStory is more about the influence he had over cinema and pop culture than it is about getting any truth out about his life, it seems. It’s disturbing, gross at times, and yet as a fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho, I can’t stop watching.

Hey @tacobellquarterly.org @tacobell.bsky.social Why do the hours for your store in Ossining, NY say you are open until 5am, but at 4:25am, the store is closed?? I drove 20 minutes to get here. What the hell??!!

This is the very best use of the hipster homing beacon, though! I always use it for the same purpose. Love a proper latte requiring zero sugar because that’s just how good those beans are!
My hipster homing beacon never fails: it led me straight to the most pretentious coffee on the south side of Dublin 🙈

Windows & doors of ICE #Broadview are boarded up. So nobody can see in. No elected officials can get in to see people or assess the site, as is their right. It's actually not all that large a building. But I guess the important part is the roof, where the guys with guns hang out & DHS films #content
There’s no medical staff or services at Broadview. No food preparation. No beds. That’s all by design because the facility was created for holds less than 12 hours.

I think what I'm saying is I would like Taylor to write a song as gutting as "Happiness" about the state of the world, but she's never pretended to be a songwriter focused on politics and the state of the world and that's probably okay. A LOT of artists don't actually talk about the world.

I’ll probably never like a TS album more than Folklore and Evermore. I like a few tracks off some of the others, but those (especially in the midst of early pandemic days) are what drew me in. That and her whole “let me rerelease my own version of albums to stick it to the man.” Ah well.

Furloughed Department of Education workers’ out-of-office emails were changed to blame Democrats for the shutdown without their permission.

Why is Trump resorting to such desperate, and likely illegal, tactics?

Because he knows that he’s the one to blame for this shutdown.

Protesters were largely confined to either side of a road and every so often they would push at us onto the lawn of a local business. I did see several people thrown to the ground and taken away. To my eyes, these acts were pretty random and I did not see any protester be physically violent. At all.

I went to the protest this morning at ICE facility in Broadview. Some photos if you wanna follow along. My guess is that at its height there were 300-400 people there, all protesting the inhumane treatment & illegal kidnapping of our neighbors. #broadview #iceprotest #abolishice #broadviewprotest

They still haven’t reinstated Colbert who was cancelled for rightfully pointing out that CBS took a bribe. They bent a knee.

Now they’ve made Bari Weiss, notorious misinformation spreader, the head of CBS News.

Cancel. Now.

Been mulling over my own thoughts on this show since finishing it, but here's an excellent take on it.

Also, I have a slight fear of toads due to encountering one on a walk once when I was in a really bad state of mind and also really high, so I'm glad no one is actually being turned into any here.
