Disagreement on policy is welcome and reasonable, but calling me a Nazi for cosponsoring an ordinance to ban price-fixing is completely unacceptable. Councilor Ryan edited his post, but did not disclose the edit and explain the nature of the substantive change, so it’s here for posterity.

“Far from being "performative" as the Metro Chamber suggested, this pledge from the Peacock councilors is a bright light from their north star. It shows their dedication to universal justice and human rights, not to slicing and dicing morality in the name of political expediency.“

Today, BPS staff released their code proposal for making the Critical Energy Infrastructure Hub safer.

On first glance, it's pretty good. We didn't get everything we asked for, but the major pieces are present including a prohibition on all new liquid fuel terminals + a mandatory fuel drawdown.

Without serious grassroots movement pressure in Portland & (half) of our city council demanding action, I don’t think we’d see Rep. Maxine Dexter as a co-sponsor of this resolution.

No matter what corporate media says, your efforts are transforming what is “politically possible” in an enormous way.
NEW — Rashida Tlaib and 20 other members of Congress have introduced a resolution to officially recognize Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people.

It notes that between 10/23 and 11/25, the US sent $21,700,000,000 in military aid to Israel and authorized $30,000,000,000+ in new weapons deals.

Please testify!
Renters: I want to hear from you! At our next Homelessness and Housing Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 18, we’re holding open public testimony so renters can speak directly to councilors about their experiences and what they’d like to see from the City.

Portland’s Mayor, much of City Council, and many Portlanders spent recent days aligning themselves directly with Trump’s policies towards our precariously housed and homeless neighbors, while rabidly promoting a local extension of it.

It’s been utterly disgraceful and profoundly disappointing.
This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.

Big day in Portland politics at city hall today.

There's an anti-price fixing ordinance and a fall budget adjustment process that will include amendments about moving $ away from sweeps to rental assistance and support for immigrants and refugees.

Our constituents have more courage than we do. Shameful.
I do think this is a point of radicalization because a lot of angry, angry normal people were ready to dig in and suffer a lot in order to make fascists suffer a little, and their resolution was sold out and made into a mockery
