I run an online archive of Star Trek production materials - Set Blueprints, LCARS, Concept Art, etc.

I also reverse engineer the missing blueprints from camera matches of the sets.

It is our hope that this reference helps in the creation of fan art and fan films.

Something fun I just learned is that this golden Ferengi idol that appeared on DS9 was just a mass-market coin bank spray-painted gold.

Newly arrived in Hollywood, Kim recalled her audition for the role: "I remember at the audition for STAR TREK, I was sitting out in the hallway -- audition situations are so bizarre, you almost feel like you're at the wrong place. I remember sitting in there with [casting director] Junie Lowry-Johnson and feeling really charged and relaxed and ready. There are some days when you feel like something's going to happen."

Koenig had initially rejected a role in STAR TREK GENERATIONS (as had Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley), but eventually agreed to sign on under the condition that the film would include a scene that would be meaningful for Chekov as a character: "So there was a moment between Jimmy and I, when we talk about the loss of our captain… there’s no more Captain Kirk. And that was painful. And if the truth be known ...I had suffered a devastating loss in my life at this point, and I was able to bring that to that moment when Kirk gets blown out of the ship. And the only time in my life that I’ve ever brought forth tears was during the exchange between Scotty and Chekov. So they shot it. ...And then they cut it out."

Having directed notable STAR TREK entries like "Yesterday's Enterprise" and DS9's pilot episode, "Emissary", Carson had difficulty adapting to working on the big screen, according to Rick Berman: "There were a lot of problems with David directing GENERATIONS because he went from being a television director to being a movie director in personality and approach very quickly. He fell behind schedule very quickly. ...And the studio started going ape-shit. They got very upset at him. I remember there were people flying into Las Vegas where we were shooting out in the desert and insisting on him speeding things up because we were falling behind."

Leonard Nimoy's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (aka The One With the Whales!) was released 39 years ago today.

One of the most popular Trek films, the Whale Movie is indeed one of my fav. Fresh, funny, with a fine environmental message, it completes an overall successful trilogy.

Though Cryptic being sold off is sad news for sure, star trek online itself is still going under deca games, with ops and many former cryptic devs transferring over to deca to keep it running.
