Back over ten years ago when I first heard Rutger Bregman speak it blew my mind. I wish more people would get excited about this very real, very easy and very cheap way to end poverty and actually make everyone's lives better.

The next govt who wants to change this CAN do so. It actually has pretty much all the tools to demand that these power imbalances CEASE, that workers ARE treated fairly, that access to services is improved, to fund those services PROPERLY.

What it often lacks is political will WHEN IT MATTERS MOST.

Yup, this is one of the things the Canadian UBI study showed - that a UBI gave people the opportunity to find stable jobs that better suited them when they weren't pressured into taking anything.
And not always flash jobs. But good, stable jobs they could be proud of & suited them.

I also found this interesting on the 3.5% protest rule—and the importance of having a strategy to co-opt or subvert the fascist support systems.
