The best newsstand ever was at the top of the stairs leading down to the IC (now Metra) train station, by the north entrance to the Main Library (now Cultural Center), AKA the SW corner of Randolph and Michigan. It was there for decades—I think my classmate Bob Katzman owned it for a time.
