Anyone know the attrition rate within ICE? It seems to me that there must be people who joined because they wanted to enforce immigration laws who are not interested in wearing masks, threatening communities and killing citizens who disapprove of them.

One reason Congress holds closed-door hearings is that members tend to grandstand rather than ask anything productive if the public is watching.

I can't watch any more of the Jack Smith testimony because, if that's what they're like when they're NOT grandstanding...

Amazon added 2 wish lists to mine. Under "Manage list" I found "Alexa can add items to your list" is the default. And there's "Alexa can add items and read your list".

I keep shopping research(brands, sizes...) there which Alexa could undo so I opted for Alexa to keep it's grubby paws off my lists.

Wild-born calves Zigi and Lenny are already practising their wrestling moves. Sulwe, the only girl in the pileup, holds her own – never far from the action. They're only here because we rescued their mothers, orphans themselves, many years ago. Meet our grandcalves:

Lots of misinformation on the web about how a base tan protects you from melanoma.

Based on the fact that his skin is so tanned it looks like old saddle leather and he's never gotten skin cancer, I'm surprised RFK Jr. isn't leading that fight and having the government ban SPF labels.

Gift link, probably the funniest thing the Wall Street Journal has done this year.
We Let AI Run Our Office Vending Machine. It Lost Hundreds of Dollars.
An AI agent ran a snack operation in the WSJ newsroom. It gave away a free PlayStation, ordered a live fish—and taught us lessons about the future of AI.

At this rate, by next summer, he's going to take a wrecking ball to the West Wing as well to fit it.

Either that or he'll just build it on the Mall, knocking down the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument to make room for the ballroom.
Watch the east wing morph into a high-rise Trump Hotel
Wait.... Is that ballroom model getting bigger every new meeting?

This one is as big as the White House and the Wing.

The annual dropping of the credit scores is early this year.

I'm not buying anything so my score doesn't really matter but every year, right after Giving Tuesday, my score takes a hit because usage of my credit cards goes up. That's the most cockamamie way of determining solvency I can imagine.

I have totally abandoned the idea of grammar on social media. In the process of editing for the number of characters, I am guaranteed to hit "send" with clashing tenses or some other idiocy uncaught by casual proofing.

Fun with Verizon. My router is dying from old age. Options:
They'll send me a new router: $18
Recommend sending new box & everything: $34
I can't install that so service call: $99
I can pick up the router at a Verizon store: $0
Pickup everything also free but, since I can't install them: $99

Every time something is labeled "MS NOW", I expect to see Gloria Steinem talking about the National Organization for Women.

A terrible example of rebranding.

I just heard that more New Yorkers have voted this year than voted in 2024.

It's going to be a landslide for Mamdani.

I ranked him 3rd in the primaries. I think he'll be fine, but if all he accomplishes is to convince Andrew Cuomo once and for all that NY doesn't want him, it was worth my vote.

Never thought I'd say this but... Thank you Prince Andrew.

Your sense of entitlement as you pile lie upon lie is helping to keep up the Epstein files in the news. You may be a slimy child molester but, at last, you are contributing something positive to the world.

The administration keeps saying the shutdown is occurring because Democrats won't sign the "bipartisan Republican bill".

Republican is one party. Bipartisan is both parties. The bill is either Republican OR bipartisan. It can't be both.
