The fatal flaw in these protests fighting for science is that they’re such unequivocal dorks about it! But if they weren’t dorks then they wouldn’t be scientists so…end of democracy it is.

There are very few politicians who I respected as much as Mayor Turner. This is such a profound loss for Houston.

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

I’ve been thinking about this since I first read it and I feel compelled to agree (class is not monolith) I want to maintain that I, a Black, third-generation college educated, (gulf) coastal, chronically online, urban knowledge worker, am too, part of the working class!
If you want the Democratic Party to be the party of the working class, you have to accept that the working class doesn’t want what you think they should want.
They don’t dream of tearing down the rich—they admire them. They don’t see public assistance as a lifeline—they see it as a handout.

Sure, this “there’s only two genders” business is bigoted, yeah. It’s also just incorrect. Intersex people exist. Trans and nonbinary people exist. Just say you hate them and keep it moving.

My therapist specializes in treating black women with ADHD. Finding her was a bit of a miracle. The way her system is set up, appointments have to be scheduled one at a time, and I budgeted last year for seeing her about biweekly. I have not seen that blessed woman since February 🙃

It’s not a perfect system but licensed professional engineers have engineering education, years of professional training, continuing education requirements and a personal responsibility to protect health welfare and safety of the public. There is a reason for these kinds of requirements
