I asked why the Albanese Government hasn't rejected Trump's invitation to join his so-called "Board of Peace."

The UK, France, New Zealand, Germany & others have refused to join, because it is cooked.

Minister Wong says Labor is still considering the invite. What's to consider?

As Guy Rundle frequently observes, the majority of Australians are now knowledge class small ‘l’ liberals concerned at widening inequality, climate change, housing affordability and our grovelling to a failed US state. So why are the ALP, Libs, Nats and One Nation all competing for the cooker vote?

The violent scenes that played out in central Sydney last night were deeply troubling, and entirely foreseeable.

We are Australians, first and foremost. Inviting a foreign head of state to Australia when the consequences for social cohesion are so obvious shows a serious failure of judgment.

“ the independent MP Kate Chaney stands up and says she heard Nationals MP Colin Boyce say “rip her apart” to Watson-Brown, which receives a very audible gasp from the chamber.”
He withdrew statement, like DV perpetrators saying sorry.

Male violence in national parliament. He should be suspended.

Maybe Penny Wong could ponder whether someone associated with a genocidal regime is the appropriate person to come along to mourn a mass murder.

The reason for a person coming do not erase who that person is

I'll never forget media giving Scotty a free pass on his pernicious Pentecostal views:
- End of Days meant no need for a climate policy
- Prosperity Gospel justified #robodebt and punching down on the poor
- Male Headship: women should be grateful not to be shot.

A toxic impact on public policy.
Noted pentacostalist Scott Morrison, in Jerusalem, stirs up anti-Muslim prejudice after Bondi massacre. Irresponsible. Religiously intolerant. Every Australian of good faith is trying to stop ancient “holy wars” being incited here. Royal Commission investigation has yet to start.

The point isn't that the authorities are dragging their feet, it's that for once they're saying hang on let's do this carefully, by contrast with the instant moral panic that always attends anything with a whiff of Islamic extremism or contrary to the vested interests of the politically powerful.

White racist literally threw a bomb at black people to kill them, apparently not a sufficient cause to have a moral panic, special envoy, national introspection, royal commission, terrorism declaration, new laws, 1,000 op-eds in The Australian. We're struggling to identify why that might be.
