California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

On top of blue checks, the platform really needs to fix the Discover algorithm. The average person does not come to a social media platform with a predetermined list of 200 accounts to follow, or a bunch of custom feeds they want to subscribe to. Organic out-of-the-box discovery is a must.
The smartest thing Bluesky can do right now. I'll die on the hill that the main appeal of a microblogging service (as opposed to Insta, Vine etc) is getting your news, confirmed and quickly. That Twitter abandoned this makes it a huge lane for Bluesky to drive into.
Blue checks are coming to Bluesky!

It's an interesting hybrid model that combines centralized verification (Bluesky says you're legit) with decentralized verification (an outside org says you're legit).
