We’ve been speaking out against KOSA since it was introduced in 2022 by Marsha Blackburn, a bigot and outspoken advocate for censoring trans people off the internet in effort to “protect children from the transgender in this culture.” KOSA has ALWAYS been about censorship and suppression.

I was present for the birth of the web, the explosion of personal sites, and the blogging revolution, and you know what we never had to do? Beg people to use our shit.

And I'm like "Um...no we wouldn't?"

So, the AI bubble is going to pop at any moment. Looks like OpenAI will have a shortfall next year. Trump is accelerating his fascist agenda across the globe and pissing off allies. Lots of nations are holding US warbonds. What would happen if AI pops, and the nation's all dump those bonds at once?

The massive push for and expansion of AI is the reason PC components are nigh unaffordable right now, and Razer is directly contributing with their useless AI hologram doll. He'll eat his words either way: either the bubble pops, or prices keep rising & people stop buying PC parts and peripherals.

This -- one moment, I need to puke -- pie (or, I guess, doughnut) chart doesn't say what you think it does, it says:

*data center expansion is less than this "revolution" would indicate
*1342 projects are useless promises
*only 541 under construction?

This isn't the revolution you think it is.

There’s a point in every new technological development where we move from fantasies about what it can do to a more workable, quotidian understanding of what it can’t.

We’re entering the “what it can’t” phase of AI, and while this is less thrilling, it really is a better place for everyone to be.

Part of what’s happening is begat of people using the technology. Once one interacts with AI, sees its capacities, sees its very clear limitations, one has a better sense of where AI can fit into life and business.

Mostly this means it doesn’t fit at all: it doesn’t automate, it doesn’t replace.

I think what we’re seeing, and where we’re at as a culture, is daylight breaking on a long night filled with fantastical garbage stories, proffered by garbage people like Sam Altman, around AI and its capabilities.

We’re at the end of a nightmare, but the end is only beginning.

As another example, it’s beginning to dawn on the public that the only effective uses of AI are corrosive in the extreme: Musk’s Grok allowing the creation of sexual imagery/video, including of children, by paying users is, perhaps, the best example of this yet.

But there are many other examples.

We’re in this weird place where reality is intruding on the childish stories mgmt has been telling everyone, and themselves most importantly, about AI, but no one wants to admit folly.

So we still see, inter alia, talk of AI destroying labor, but AI job losses are pure fantasy. And obviously so.
