ME/CFS-afflicted novelist Philip Kazan. It’s better to burn out than it is to rust, and I wish somebody had told me that when I chose the rust option.
It’s great but it is NOT a relaxing or jolly experience. At all.

I’m a lot less far along my PIP journey but already had to apply twice, a tribunal, endless interviews, and all for the minimum which genuinely is a pittance, although everyone acts like they’re giving us villas on the Amalfi Coast.

Perhaps, but now they’ve got this massive platform to blare it all out from. Whenever my son asks me what I was doing at his age and I say “clothes and clubs,” he just looks at me like I’m some kind of maniac and lectures me about the masculinity crisis.

Having kids his age, I’ve become completely exasperated that their generation is huge on authoritative pronouncements about life, culture, moral imperatives (of every nutso variety) which they trumpet to each other and the world despite having no life experience whatsoever.

That would be amazing! There are generations of gunners in my family and shamefully I’ve never been to Woolwich.

All this fuss about the Elgin Marbles when San Marco is FESTOONED with Byzantine plunder

I just wonder what Ken Kesey would be thinking right now

For some reason Jumpers is the one I remember most. Possibly because George (G.E.) and Dotty Moore’s son was my music teacher. I had many opportunities to talk to Mr Stoppard about that, but I never felt clever enough around him to try.
