So much of American history is just impulsive and extremely stupid elites, who don't believe in consequences because they have never personally experienced them, doing highly consequential stuff because they're bored or believe it might make them richer. I guess a lot of our culture, too.

Or perhaps Putin should be ashamed instead? Apparently, his real mistake wasn’t invading a sovereign country - it was failing to seize it fast enough for the theft to harden into a fait accompli.

This is daylight robbery of Venezuela’s natural resources. The US losing its UN Security Council seat would be a logical consequence - assuming international law were still alive to notice. Putin must be proud.
