Emergency Physician. HC advocate. Got to kick at the darkness until it bleeds daylight.
Hey AB, while the govt promises to push more anesthesiologists and OR nurses from our hospitals with Dual Billing, and do more care in private surgical facilities, take a look at this graph!

These are wait times in AB for SURGERIES FOR KIDS.

Hey Alberta, let's keep talking about HC in our province.
Let's get into what's really happening. No spewing of meaningless promises and ideology...
Let's talk about what is really happening in YOUR COMMUNITY.

Please Help me spread the word:

Because we already DON'T:
- pay for someone's diabetes medicine but rather spend THOUSANDS of dollars on hospital care when they get really sick from their poorly controlled diabetes.

European countries - that govt and consultants are fond of comparing us to - have far more doctors per capita! And didn't have an anesthesiologist shortage!

They also didn't have all their life saving surgical metrics getting worse and worse when they explored Dual Pay!

Check out the things that will kill you surgery trends for AB...
These aren't worsening because we don't have enough surgeons... it's because we don't have enough anesthesiologists and nurses in our hospitals already...

Take a listen
x.com/i/status/19916...

Had an interesting debate with a consultant from Montreal, telling me what I see every day on the frontlines in AB isn't really as bad as I think... and if it is then allowing more HCWs to leave hospitals will fix it...

Well look at this graph, it clearly shows that the wait times for the surgeries that will kill you are only getting worse.

More opportunities to talk about HC Alberta...

Come on out and let's discuss if we feel like HC is going in the right direction in Alberta.

Would love to hear your prespective.

All Albertans deserve safe and timely access to HC.

No one wants to stay in the overcapacity + understaffed hospitals to do the complicated after hours care.

Docs have provided solutions, begging for Workforce Planning, and incentivizing the hard afterhours care:

Beny-sur-mer Canadian War Cemetary by Juno beach.

Seeing lots of posts politicizing Remembrance Day and postulating what they died for...

They died for ALL OF US...

Lest we forget.

RURAL ED CLOSURES - REAL AB Case #4

A male in his 20s with severe asthma, very short of breath and having trouble breathing.
Presents in distress to his local ED - but it is closed, and he didn't know.

He calls 911 for help, and there are no ambulances available to respond...

Hey Alberta, take a look at these trends...
This has been building for years, but this explains why more and more of our parents/grandparents are being stranded in Hospitals...
and why Access Block is growing.

Real ED Case in AB 🧵 :

Elderly couple 91 and 92yo, living in their own home caring for each other. Slowly declining, as one has worsening dementia, and they can no longer live on their own anymore.
No beds to place them in continuing care from the community

Just a reminder to all Albertans: we already cannot staff our large hospitals with Ultrasound Technicians to provide safe and timely care for all kinds of afterhours emergencies.

Thanks to Owl News for the opportunity to touch on some key HC issues.
So much that could be talked about.
But I want to hear from you as to what is happening in your community.

Every Albertan should be outraged.
Our govt just rammed thru a full on attack on our constitutional rights.
If they’ll do this to our teachers, nobody’s constitutional rights will be safe.
This cannot be allowed to stand.

Found this post interesting....
What's that word again for a person who says one thing, but acts in a totally opposite way???
Cuz this is a pretty interesting "view" from a major architect of FORCED Addictions care, and taking away trans-care autonomy and choice!

Wyant’s report shows so much bad happening under Premier’s watch - and still the Premier’s chief of staff intervened on behalf of somebody who clearly was in conflict and maybe acting illegally…
But key thing not to forget: Premier and Minister fired the whistleblower

RURAL ED CLOSURES - REAL AB Case #3
- patched through a bystander call from 911 dispatcher to online doc, significant trauma from an ATV accident
- literally not a single EMS crew in the vicinity, local ED closed, all resources actively transporting patients

I went to check out the new License Plates… and it made me shake my head at what govt is admitting is there TOP PRIORITY for ABs, while public HC and Education are in chaos and being destroyed…

Here I fixed it for them:

Working in the ED over the weekend, but wanted to take a moment to say I'm thankful to live in Canada where we still strive to try to provide universal health care!

That we haven't abandoned it to a system where only the rich get optimal care

Sharing a poem thankful reflection

Think of the impact this would have on the pt's family, wondering if an open local ED could have made a difference?

We understand that we cannot have an ED in every town, but closures are regularly occurring in places like: Hinton, Edson, Lac La Biche, Oyen... and many more
