Such a great movie — still sitting with the kindness, confrontation, and naked bellies spilling out everywhere.

Heard about this from friends in the area. People also got on the phones to the office of the property developer and were like “you better run ICE off your private property right now if you want people to buy/rent your housing stock.” There -are- things you can do even if you can’t get in the street
Masked men wearing ICE vests—but who refused to present a warrant or identify themselves—roped off a construction site, trapping two men on a roof for hours in subzero temps. Protesters gathered. Masked men eventually left, and one man on the roof was taken away by ambulance kstp.com/kstp-news/to...

When I lived in LA 97-99 (and you may recall this @davidjroth.bsky.social), Rob Reiner led the smoking ban in bars. I couldn’t believe bars could exist without cigs. And I don’t even smoke.

He kickstarted all of it. I still go to bars. I never have to Febreez my clothes.

So, also that.

In order for his casualness to work here and at many other points throughout the movie, Marty diBergi as a character needed to be in the moment. Whether a bit was improvised or a reworked, carefully honed moment, Reiner brought it. Asking this question just right is what makes *that* punchline.
"Why don't you just make 10 louder and make 10 be the top number and make that a little louder?"

Its Criterion reissue in September is utterly essential. It is a truly complete official presentation, pulling together the in and out-of-character commentaries, all the ancillary stuff, all looking great, with even more outtakes than ever. You need it. Just get it. Honor the man and the work.

Sometimes, I think about the amount of people who died by suicide because of chatbots and how our government is not regulating its use. Instead, Trump is trying to ban states from enacting their own regulatory laws on AI. So many things to be angry about in 2025, but this one is in my top five.

He's also responsible for raising all the money that paid for bringing Hollingsworth v. Perry & even more importantly Bostic v. Schaefer, which created the circuit split that forced SCOTUS to take on Obergefell v. Hodges. The role he played in American marriage equality cannot be overstated.
The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

We need our leaders to lead, through words AND action. Tim Walz, where are you?

The time has come to step up or step aside. They’re already escalating - what are you afraid of?
