Our landlord put a new roof on our house and now my wife’s Instagram feed is full of roofing ads. We’re not currently in the market for roofing. All of these algorithms and big data are much better at being invasive than they are at being pertinent.

Let’s see if we can spot the problem:

1.) He likes the idea of killing people.

2.) He’s smart enough to realize that he needs to associate it with something positive, however unlikely or fantastical.

3.) The press will continue to publish his words because it’s ‘news’ and they are cowards.
Awful: Trump just admitted in a new interview that he knows "very little" about the Honduran ex-president he pardoned. This guy trafficked a gazillion times more drugs into the US than anyone Trump has executed. Wrecks his case for the boat bombings.

More of that hard-hitting journalism from the Pentagon:

“At the Pentagon Christmas party they had a cookie bake-off between the Army, Navy, and Air Force mess. 5-star designs, beautifully wrapped.

@SecWar
’s team told me to take some for my kids, so I did. My daughter loved them!”
Outstanding reporting today from the New Media at the Pentagon.

Rather than: What is fair treatment of billionaires? The question I would ask is: What is their existence doing to the rest of us and our society at large? The best reason to tax billionaires is not to get their money to use for other things, it’s to strip them of their inordinate power.
"Because working people have been shunted into defined contribution, self-funded retirement schemes, their futures are wedded to stock market returns in a way that people in similarly wealthy democracies find unimaginable." Inequality in the US is obscene. My thoughts:

This is great. Very few people want to go to jail, get disbarred or die for this regime. Make them fight you. They will cave.

It’s ironic, no? When the great exodus was announced I joked that a million of the worst people in New York were volunteering to help Mamdani meet his housing goals. But it speaks of something deeper. The market, like government, is meant to serve, not dominate us. It’s ours to shape and command.

I don’t think you owe it to anybody, unless perhaps to the unborn and maybe your ancestors. Do what you have to do. But if you think of voting not as an emblem of your values which must be earned by fealty to the same, but rather as an exercise in harm reduction, it might help you see other /1

I have no problem with the concept of a strong floor. But the no ceiling bit is problematic. Vast accumulations of wealth invest a small number of individuals with inordinate power over both material resources and the flow of information. Dollars are an illusion. Resources are finite.

Pretty convincing evidence here that the Trump administration was planning to jailbreak and provide asylum for Bolsonaro -- and that Trump inadvertently revealed the plan.

And this, as the now-cliche goes, would have been a paralyzing scandal for any other administration.

It’s a feature. 50 years ago a bunch of clever people convinced a bunch of powerful people that if everybody just watched out for their own interests, collectively we’d get the best possible outcome. It was stupid then and it’s stupid now, but there it is. It’s written into our operations manual.
Point blank, period.

Too many people in this country simply have no damned principles, and everything is negotiable to personal gain. That's why we are where we are now.

There's no way the GOP would still be a functioning party at this point if y'all weren't committed to being racist and stupid.
There are plenty of conservative Black folks in this country, and there would be a whole lot more Black Republicans if the party weren’t so damn racist!

It really is that simple.
