I want to tell you why the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia should matter to you.

The one power you cannot give the executive is the ability to imprison or expel anyone regardless of their legal rights. That is our key check against autocracy. And we are watching it disappear.

You wouldn't know it looking at recent front pages, but Transparency International published a report this month, identifying 135 high-risk PPE contracts, with a value of £15.3bn, that show three or more corruption red flags. ~AA

I’ve been away from social media for a while and today I clicked onto a notification from the other place without thinking. And I’ve come running out again. What a nightmare place it is!

Half a million people in London right now. Jewish activists in New York last night. Polls in both countries overwhelmingly support a ceasefire in Gaza. Cannot imagine this level of support even five years ago. Whatever happens, the Palestinians are no longer alone.

Seems pretty accurate
It's now clear that Hamas struck a status quo-ending blow without any strategy for what comes next, and that Israel is now preparing an epoch-ending ground war without any strategy for what comes next, and that the US, Europe, Iran and Hezbollah are standing by w/o any strategy for what comes next.

I'm shopping online for xmas presents for family in Ireland already. I've never been organised this early before but there is reason for this madness. I'm going over for a visit in November and I'm going to have it all with me, so no postage required.

I have become an adult at last!
