This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Photograph from 1911 taken by Herbert Ponting whilst with Scott's Antarctic Expedition The monochrome photo is taken from within a cave. The walls of the cave are made of ice. The cave entrance is in the mid distance with two figures standing looking out towards a distant ship. Between them and the ship there is first a 'beach' of ice before the sea itself. The ship could be up to 800 metres away What makes the photo so special is that where the figures are at the cave entrance there is a band of very white snow and ice (contrasting with the comparatively dark inside of the cave) that creates a stark framework in which the men and the ship are captured. It is made even more dramatic by the fact that the cave entrance is at least 30 metres high and is in the shape of a distorted elipse with the tail sloping off to the right at the top of the elipse The photo being in monochrome in a largely white environment makes the photographers skill all the more laudable

More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

sight cardinals decorate a young barren tree covered in snow. the bushes to the left were also dotted with cardinals. there was food on the ground in front of it, so they were perching before feeding.

I love having dogs. I grew up with them. But,they do chew things. Take for example exhibit 1. Our Prauge ornament. I got a pix before he bit it. So, I tried to replicate it. Not bad. Love the good and the annoying. Lol

Sometimes painting are a struggle. This one was one of those. I really dont know why. What I do know is, I don't love it. But, I think the calico came out nice. It was a nodded toward my sister's Calico Pepper Ann. She lived a long life and was deeply loved.

After going back to this guy a couple times since I painted him, I felt something was missing. I think the lights bring a touch of whimsy to the

When visiting Paris with my husband I remeber clearly walking my way up to the the near to of Notre Dame to see the gargoyals. As much as my legs hated me later ( LOL) it was worth it. This one became one of my favorites.

Grief is a funny thing. I watch as my family and I are trying to move around a family spider web that lost one string. Painting helps. Hopefully, so will time. To everyone facing this type of loss this Holiday,here is a virtua hug ( BIG HUG).
