In 2020, the UCP suddenly scrapped land rules that had been in place since 1976, inviting a flurry of new investment into coal expansion. Then mass public pressure and a court challenge drove them to reverse that—which left the province vulnerable to lawsuits from those investors, like this one:

Q: Which premiers aren't stepping up?

ANGUS: Clearly, we see Danielle Smith and Premier Moe breaking the boycott, inviting US alcohol back into the stores. What’s that about?... Smith needs to stop threatening to break up our country and start standing with the rest of Canada.

Fact: Only 3,742 homes were built with fed gov help. 200,000 is impossible, there were only 195,535 starts total in 2015, almost all private w/o fed help.

Every single one of these asks is something to benefit a fossil fuel corporation. There is no demand here for assistance with the housing crisis, no demand for help with our struggling health care system, no demand for the reform or improvement of any government program. Who does she work for?
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says she met with Prime Minister Mark Carney "at his request" today and gave him a "list of demands."

She says whoever wins the next election "must address" these demands "within the first six months of their term to avoid an unprecedented national unity crisis."
