In the third week of October the night sky in downtown Minneapolis was lit up by a curious sight: a flashing Bat Signal. It was Paul Westerberg's idea of a joke. To mark the release of Tim, the Replacements had decided to do something special. Rather than play a show in the main room at First Avenue, they elected to do a five-night stand at the 7th St Entry, one of them for an all-ages audience. "Paul's demands were that he wanted [a Batman] klieg light out for the gigs and free [soda] pop for the kids," said Jesperson.
