Progressive pastor in United Church of Christ for over fifty years. Husband, father of four, grandfather of seven. Photographer, life coach, folk singer. Embarking on my "fourth quarter" of my life journey, expecting excitement, engagement, and empathy!
Listen to these words from a former Trump supporter who has seen the light of the President's racist and corrupt behavior that has terrorized all our children. (Also terrorizing adults of color and all those adults seeking documents and citizenship who came to this country for liberty and justice.)
Three-time Trump voter: I'm looking at this awful picture of the Obamas. What an embarrassment to our country. He is not worthy of the presidency. He takes bribes blatantly, and now he's being a racist blatantly. He's pathetic as a president, and I want to apologize for supporting this rotten man.

O my Lord. I never thought or imagined that this terror and injustice would be happening daily in American streets. But listen we must. And resist we must. Until there is, someday, "liberty and justice for all."
Remember her name: Aliya Rahman

Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.

It’s powerful. It’s gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

ICE MUST GO‼️

WOW. The Boss gives a powerful musical "voice" to the cries of the people for justice.
"We'll take our stand for this land & the stranger in our midst..."

Powerful. Brutal. Inspirational. A loving tribute to Renée Good, Alex Pretti & the good people of Minneapolis.
Plus, it name-checks all the villains: the Puppy Killer🐶, Pee-Wee German🇩🇪, the Orange Atrocity🍊💩 & above all: ICE🧊🚫
1/
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

The owl has been my spirit animal for more than sixty- five years. Encounter owl energy and find wisdom and clarity in the darkness.
The owl's silent wings and keen eyes symbolize inner guidance, intuition, and the ability to find clarity in the darkness.

On this day of the Epiphany, let us defy injustice and proclaim, and strive for, peace. (With thanks to Historic Saint Paul Catholic Church for this image and insight.)

I am so grateful that we have sane and compassionate leader with a national platform who can address our grief and offer us hope for a way forward.

This is the only question to be asked in the face of misogynistic and sexist cruelty and rudeness.
“And the only question that should have been asked of him was what in the world did you just say to our colleague? We will return to the questions after you apologize to her. That’s it, that’s the only question that should have been asked.”

It is never okay to demean women…

"The way on which we act up our faith...is also to take care of those who have the least in our city" ~ Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani
Let's follow his example and be led by our faith in whatever city we are called to care about.
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

Truth.
An estimated 15.7 million workers use SNAP. It’s a lifeline for those in low-wage jobs.

Meanwhile, CEOs are paid 280x as much as the typical worker.

Don’t be angry at workers for using food stamps.

Be angry at the corporations paying them so little that they need them.

Thank you, Mike. Yes, we saw yesterday that the whole world is watching and is with us, the believers in freedom and justice for all.
🇺🇸 🔥 That. Was. Impressive.

We are watching America reassert itself and its values from the grassroots up. The world saw you and we have huge hope invested in you.

I'm impressed, world! Thank you for loving us in the midst of our breakup.
The world joined us and said, “No Kings.”

In San Jose, @stuarth2o spoke with a former Republican at her very first #NoKings protest🫶🏻

She so eloquently & fiercely expressed why she came: to stand up for democracy, reject extremism, and reclaim the America she loves.

Courage looks like this. 👑❌🇺🇸

With sadness in my heart and with shock and horror daily for what our country has become, I repost this poignant reminder of what America once was (and with God and the people willing, we shall become again: with grace, & the strength of diversity, equity & inclusion, and liberty & justice for all!)
Ronald Reagan said it. #NoKings tomorrow 10/18

A worthwhile read from a US Senator who tells the truth and understands how our government has always worked: through negotiation and compromise.
Senate is back in session today.

1/ So a quick 🧵on where things are at on the shutdown.

You get a lot of propaganda and spin thrown at you, so I want to give you the real, behind-the-scenes tea.

Reposting this to read again and remember that the true greatness of America was, is, and has always been, our acceptance and embrace of diversity. All belong here.

Truth. A ceasefire is a compassionate humanitarian act and a return to compassion is how every conflict eventually ends.
I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow embodied what a journalist should be: someone who holds power to account instead of capitulating to it.

Over 70 years later, his segment denouncing Joe McCarthy’s congressional witch hunts rings truer than ever.
