I’m a Vancouver Whitecaps supporter. And a city planner. I can’t speak to the team’s finances with their deal to use BC Place, but I know their current location downtown is exceptional for transit & a walkable population, & gives BC Place more use (a purpose-built new stadium will be dark a lot).
The City of Vancouver and Vancouver Whitecaps FC have signed an MOU to enter an exclusive negotiation period through 2026, exploring plans for a new stadium and entertainment district at Hastings Park.

I’ve heard from immigration attorneys that clients say ICE guards lay out the WRAP device (essentially a full-body straitjacket) on the tarmac as a threat — “do what we say or you’re getting the WRAP on the whole flight.”
