Hi all! My name is Bridget, I'm a research assistant with Project Seagrass in the UK. I just finished my MSc in marine biology on #seagrass 🌱, functional traits 🐛, and carbon storage 🪴. I'm originally from the US and did my BA at Bowdoin College in 2023. Excited to be here and chat #MarineEcology!
I was able to attend the UK Seagrass Symposium this past week, and present my MSc dissertation and my work with @projectseagrass.bsky.social. It was incredible to be a part of putting this conference on and to get to see all the @sosbangor.bsky.social students who are working in seagrass!

Americans are about to discover how science agencies fund universities. In both red and blue states. Slashing science = slashing jobs. Period.
Very clear the current regime has no intention of continuing to allow actual basic science in any form to continue with federal funding in the US.
Science funding agency threatened with mass layoffs
National Science Foundation staff heard the plans at a meeting Tuesday.

New reseach out today from my time at Bowdoin (collabs aren't on bs yet): tinyurl.com/3cynp4rr

We found positive interactions between eelgrass and oysters in co-culture in ambient conditions. Interactions break down under future conditions (warming, OA, or both).
