NEW: A federal judge denied the Trump admin attempt to revoke approvals for US Wind, a project slated to be Maryland's 1st offshore wind farm.

This shows cracks in Trump's anti-wind legal strategy.

Last month, a judge sided w/ Trump admin that it *can* reconsider approvals for a Mass wind farm.

This picture has been making the rounds again, and is being misidentified again.

This is a GOOSEFISH.

This is NOT a tasselled wobbegong shark.

It’s a great pic. I get why people are very excited about it. But it’s as easy to give it the right name as the wrong one.

Giant kelp is a productivity powerhouse—about 40x more productive than the kelp that’s replaced it on Tasmania’s east coast.
Our new study found that if we restore giant kelp it boosts fisheries like abalone and rock lobster

This is so good. But I want to see more exampled of 'bespoke' models versus a 'default' model to help solidify the comparison - and how frequently someone in our field would go the bespoke route. I've never gotten a clear definition on 'bespoke'... is that most of what I do? Or none?
So much statistics discourse orbits around Bayes verses frequentist debates, but in practice Bayes verses frequentist is often a false dichotomy. Just as important as the inferential strategy is the underlying model, and how that model is specified. 🧵
