i had this book. it lived on the tv stand that housed my NES (upstairs in the guest room)
This book is bonkers. It includes prose walkthroughs of every level in the first three Super Mario games (plus Super Mario Land) with no screenshots whatsoever.

Imagine getting to, like, World 7-3 and having to come up with a fresh new way of writing "jump over the pipe."

Twitter pays people based on engagement (views, retweets, comments, etc). It appears that many MAGA accounts are based abroad and they use AI technology to generate low-effort rage bait.

My guess is that this will get worse as AI tech improves. For instance, fake videos of minorities doing crime.

Turns out this was all much ado about nothing and Google isn’t using your Gmail to train AI and if wanna turn all that stuff back on you can get your spam filters back
Looks like the article has been updated to suggest maybe they misread the policy.

I see people complaining that this also disabled their spam filters, though I still see new messages showing up in spam so it's still working fine for me after disabling things.
[Correction] Gmail can read your emails and attachments to power "smart features"
Did you know that Gmail can use your emails and attachments for its smart features? Here's how to check your settings.

in that weird anxious space where i'm all ready to go but i don't leave for another 2.5 hours lol. travel days are so weird. also, so not convenient when you live 300km from the airport.

Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

last minute decision to take a carry-on on my trip. bc 1) my main suitcase is so full i wouldn't be able to buy anything at the christmas markets and 2) i'm scared my checked bag won't make my tight frankfurt-basel connetion 😂

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

i'm assuming the same will be true for canada. i didn't use turbotax, but a free online alternative. i don't even get why you'd need AI? the input system was already very easy. i'm assuming nefarious purposes and a benefit to the company rather than us.
TurboTax is about to be integrated into ChatGPT, where customers will be guided through tasks tied to their tax filings or financial profile by the AI chatbot.

TurboTax owner Intuit is also paying OpenAI more than $100 million a year to power AI agents.

talked to someone today who used ai to help plan their vacation. and, like, yeah it worked (at least they thought it did). BUT... this is just mining travel guides etc. with more and more ai, people who write travel content won't write as much, and where is the ai going to steal its info from then?
