The destruction of the #DepartmentofEducation will be an unmitigated disaster. This has been in the works for a while and it will have devastating impacts on students with disabilities and learning challenges. On women and girls. On Black students. AND THIS IS THE POINT 1/
@generalmotors.bsky.social I have bought a number of Chevies over the years. I currently drive a used Caddy. I will *never* buy a car with a subscription service and it doesn’t matter how Mary Barra spins it, it’s greedy bull shit.

Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

I’m not surprised to see hacks like Megyn Kelly defending the sexual assault and trafficking of teens - we saw it coming when they started to referring to them as “young women.” But even if they were adults, *they were held in sexual bondage.* #megynkellydefendsrapists

Democrats asked for ONE THING today to reopen the govt: Keep health insurance subsidies where they are at now for one year. That is IT. Nothing else.

Republicans said no.

So all the lies they tell every day about things Dems are asking for is BS.
Republicans OWN this shutdown.

The fact that @adobe.com is used so often in academic settings and is defaulting to generative AI for documents is so disheartening … it’s already so hard to get students to do their own work, & this just makes things soooo much harder.

I made $1000 or so from my HuffPo op-eds and not a dime from any of my academic work.
"If you’ve ever wanted to read an academic journal article, though, you may have noticed that it costs money to download it—anywhere between $5 and $90. The article’s author isn’t getting that money."
How Much Money Do Historians Make From Their Writing?
In general, academic writing doesn’t earn you anything, and most of the time, it costs you.

This is not good.

Colleges & universities should resist calls for closed, secretive presidential searches. Faculty should demand that their institutions observe established norms of shared governance by involving faculty in all stages of the search process.

It is worth noting that the Catholic Church, one of the most staunch anti-abortion organizations in the world, has a formal policy that encourages all vaccinations.

Shutting down Head Start might seem at odds with the administration's pronatalist aims. But they're actually closely aligned. Because moms who can't find/afford childcare often end up leaving the workforce. And once they're home full-time, it often seems reasonable to have more kids.
