Picked up a haul of the greatest Super Nintendo mag of all time.

If you know, you know.

Watched Tetsuo: The Iron Man for the first time ever last night. Definitely not for everyone, but I thought it was a visionary masterpiece. Sublime direction, a pounding score and a visceral sense of action throughout. Hard to believe it came out in 1989, honestly. So far ahead of its time.

A few of the latest games I've got the full achievements on Xbox on. Highlight was definitely Ghost Trick, a game I could never get into on DS, despite being a massive Ace Attorney fan, that finally clicked for me. Absolutely amazing game that was way ahead of its time.

Never really understood the love for Silent Hill 4: The Room. The initial previews looked terrifying, but the game itself turned out to be a repetitive slog, with the second half basically just being a retread of the first. By far the worst of the original Silent Hill games.

Weekend gaming session done and dusted. We completed RoboCop VS Terminator and had an impromptu visit from a friend, so pivoted to the original Devil May Cry, which has aged like a fine wine, before making it a good way into Rogue City. Heavy session but a good session.

We've decided to make it a RoboCop weekend by playing RoboCop VS Terminator (Genesis / MegaDrive) and Rogue City.

Not gonna lie, I have the fear when it comes to RVT. It's infamously difficult and we had a lot of trouble with Waterworld (SNES) last year. Could make or break the session.

Lovely little lovecraftian puzzler

Call of the Sea 1000/1000

Great narrative-driven puzzle game with luscious visuals and a healthy undercurrent of dread. Anything Lovecraft I am down for and this delivered in spaces. Great game.

One week to go until myself and my partner in crime rendezvous for a weekend of gaming. It's a little last minute, so we're still deciding on which games to play, but here are the frontrunners. Looking forward to it!

A good way through Disco Elysium now and I have to say that it is one of the funniest, smartest, most well written games I've ever played. This scene had me in tears, it was so good.

The striking, surreal art style and unique OSTcomplement it perfectly too. Honestly, a must play.

Went to see anime classic Ghost in the Shell for its 30th anniversary last night as part of the NI Science Festival.

Always loved it, but it holds up even better than I remember and many of the ideas and themes are as relevant today as ever before. Complete classic.

Also has quite possibly the coolest final boss encounter ever. I was a certified Pokeholic back in the day and this legitimately made me lose my mind, couldn't believe the brazenness of Game Freak. So good.

Watched Carnival of Souls for the first time last night. Brilliant movie with genuine chills at parts. Really liked the shot composition and cinematography and though it veered into arthouse at points, it never felt pretentious. Wonderfully acted by Candace Hilligoss too. Recommended.

Haven't done any cooking posts on here so figured I'd add some of my personal recent favourites.

Getting more into doing my own recipes, going well so far!

Sad to hear of the passing of David Lynch. Always a visionary, always pushing the envelope. Twin Peaks remains one of the best shows ever made. R.I.P. to a bonafide legend.

Hearing rumours that Halo is heading to PlayStation and Nintendo. If true, in many ways the end of an era, but it's impossible to get consistent games in Halo Infinite presently even in cross-play, so it can't get any worse. Let's see if they turn out to be true.

Walked past this cafe and had to do a double take.

If you know, you know.

Finally making my way through Berserk (1997). Despite owning it for 20 years, for some reason I've never been able to finish it but this time I'm fully dedicated to seeing it through.

Love the OST, voice acting & animation but well aware I'm in for a heavily traumatic experience. Wish me luck.

My favourite book last year was Trainspotting. Always loved the film (who doesn't) but the book was much darker, more introspective, sardonic and in many ways superior.

I only recently started reading Irvine Welsh over the last couple of years but already he's becoming a firm favourite.

After 140 hours and almost a decade of on and off playing, that's a wrap on Dragon Age: Inquisition. All in all, it was an amazing experience - unbelievably dense in terms of story, sublime use of series characters, with satisfying traversal and combat.

Really, really strong effort. Veilguard soon.

That's the original Metroid finally beaten. In many ways it hasn't aged well and is practically labyrinthian throughout but, equally, it's impressive how much of the blueprint for the series and 'Metroidvania's' in general was set with this game.

This is your friendly reminder that Temple of Doom is by far the worst of the original three.

Doesn't mean it's a bad movie, more that the other two are pretty much perfect in terms of what they set out to do.

That's a wrap on Tomb Raider (2013). Did all the offline achievements but unfortunately the multiplayer is long dead so couldn't do them all.

Thought it was phenomenal throughout and Crystal Dynamics really outdid themselves. Can only imagine what it must have been like playing it at release.

Despite being a huge ICO and Shadow of the Colossus fan, I've yet to play The Last Guardian and, honestly, it keeps me up at night. Need to make it a priority in 2025.

(Not gonna lie, I'm *extremely* worried about Trico though)

Xbox Year in Review data dump

Happy to be in the top 1% for gamerscore. Still got it!

Nice blend of video game OSTs and Metal. You can tell I went down a Persona rabbit hole this year but who's complaining!
