Latest vid is our run through of PS1 classic, Medal of Honor. This was recorded ten years ago and features some surprise guest appearances.

It's a game that's often overlooked when it comes to shooters of the era, but well worth playing. Holds up well.

Browser 'AI summaries' are hilarious because 90% of the time, it's copied and pasted from @wikipedia.org, almost verbatim.

It's insane that these parasitic companies are able to plagiarize en masse with no consequences because of greed and anachronistic legislators.

Picked up a haul of the greatest Super Nintendo mag of all time.

If you know, you know.

Watched Tetsuo: The Iron Man for the first time ever last night. Definitely not for everyone, but I thought it was a visionary masterpiece. Sublime direction, a pounding score and a visceral sense of action throughout. Hard to believe it came out in 1989, honestly. So far ahead of its time.

We finally wrapped up Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

It's one we played a long time ago but didn't record, so it was good to revisit it. Elements have aged poorly and its a product of its time, but it still has a lot of charm. Games of that era just hit differently

Finally wrapped up the @underconsolepod.bsky.social original run and, I have to say, a big part of me is sad that it's over. Might continue with the other series episodes as I enjoy Ash and Luke's vibes a lot but it feels like the end of an era. Thanks for creating such a special podcast.

There's no series in the world I miss more than TimeSplitters. Had countless hours and sleepless nights playing the TS2 multiplayer with friends, but Future Perfect was equally fantastic and the soundtrack even more so.

A few of the latest games I've got the full achievements on Xbox on. Highlight was definitely Ghost Trick, a game I could never get into on DS, despite being a massive Ace Attorney fan, that finally clicked for me. Absolutely amazing game that was way ahead of its time.

Just saw someone say "I'm done with modern games, they're too expensive. I'm gonna play only retro games now".

Never really understood the love for Silent Hill 4: The Room. The initial previews looked terrifying, but the game itself turned out to be a repetitive slog, with the second half basically just being a retread of the first. By far the worst of the original Silent Hill games.

Weekend gaming session done and dusted. We completed RoboCop VS Terminator and had an impromptu visit from a friend, so pivoted to the original Devil May Cry, which has aged like a fine wine, before making it a good way into Rogue City. Heavy session but a good session.

We've decided to make it a RoboCop weekend by playing RoboCop VS Terminator (Genesis / MegaDrive) and Rogue City.

Not gonna lie, I have the fear when it comes to RVT. It's infamously difficult and we had a lot of trouble with Waterworld (SNES) last year. Could make or break the session.

Lovely little lovecraftian puzzler

Call of the Sea 1000/1000

Great narrative-driven puzzle game with luscious visuals and a healthy undercurrent of dread. Anything Lovecraft I am down for and this delivered in spaces. Great game.

One week to go until myself and my partner in crime rendezvous for a weekend of gaming. It's a little last minute, so we're still deciding on which games to play, but here are the frontrunners. Looking forward to it!

A good way through Disco Elysium now and I have to say that it is one of the funniest, smartest, most well written games I've ever played. This scene had me in tears, it was so good.

The striking, surreal art style and unique OSTcomplement it perfectly too. Honestly, a must play.

This is so spot on. The secret ingredient as to why Final Fantasy is so beloved is the soundtracks.

Nobuo is the master of weaving themes and chord structures across games to give that sense of familiarity, even when the games are totally dissimilar. The greatest who ever did it.
Final Fantasy’s music isn’t just a soundtrack—it’s the heartbeat of our greatest adventures. From the profound and unforgettable melody of Prelude to the first notes of To Zanarkand, when those melodies play, we're right back there...a kid with a controller, ready to believe in magic again💙🎮

Finally started editing the next video in my definitive SNES collecting series. We'll be covering four games - Star Fox, Super Tennis, Pilotwings & Stunt Race FX. Shaping up well but still a lot of work to do.

Continuing our playthrough of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the marathoning fatigue and heavy alcohol intake gets the better of us in what should be routine segments, but a fresh start helps bring us back from the brink.

This will be disastrous for the Bond franchise. The character has had such an enduring legacy because the Broccoli's understood that absence makes the heart grow fonder & the movies felt like events.

Amazon will pump out subpar shows and wreck the brand's prestige.

Went to see anime classic Ghost in the Shell for its 30th anniversary last night as part of the NI Science Festival.

Always loved it, but it holds up even better than I remember and many of the ideas and themes are as relevant today as ever before. Complete classic.

Also has quite possibly the coolest final boss encounter ever. I was a certified Pokeholic back in the day and this legitimately made me lose my mind, couldn't believe the brazenness of Game Freak. So good.

Have read Handmaid's Tale numerous times and did my dissertation on it 20 years ago, and honestly, I always felt it seemed unrealistic when framed with a contemporaneous lens. These days? Not so much. I could see this coming to fruition in the next few decades, and that's scary.
Sign of these crappy times: this week Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, now 40 years old, is back on the Canadian bestsellers list.

Every game that contains online multiplayer requirements for trophies and achievements, should be required to release an update that unlocks them the next time you launch the game, once it is decided that the servers will be going permanently offline.
