sorry hun, you're going to have to be more specific on what Neo-fascist government headed by a racist convict and his war criminal underlings and bankrolled by billionaires you're talking about

I wonder if this is partly the result of trying to game the algorithm by mentioning trending keywords in a way less blatant than the "#trending topic...now that you're here" tweet

I'm looking for funding for my startup where people can bet on historical events, and I always win, because AI slop has so corrupted the historical record they don't know who won the Diet Dr. Pepper War of 1817

guess where that surveillance regime is coming next
@mohamhawish.bsky.social speaks to more than a dozen people living in Gaza under a regime of ceaseless surveillance. One man now avoids calling his brother and has described the collapse of connection itself in his life.

As a little treat for you, here's an #ArabicBible Advent calendar 🧵. Every day I'll post a verse from the Christmas story from one of the oldest Arabic Gospel lectionaries, Sinai ar. 71, dated 897 CE (and a few other texts in between).

it's been 9/12/2001 for 25 years
Hegseth told soldiers under his command in Iraq to ignore legal advice about when they were permitted to kill enemy combatants under their rules of engagement. The anecdote is contained in a book Hegseth wrote last year in which he sharply disparaged the Geneva and Hague Conventions.

One of those days that I’m going to be worried I wrote the wrong thing
I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Heba. Heba made cakes before the war (her insta has many examples) but she lost her home and all her supplies. She’s hoping to replace them so she can support her children Waseem, 20 (who is injured), Wadih, 17, Tala, 15 and Elias, 8

it reminds me when most of the academy cracked down on student protesting genocide and Muslim/Arab professors, and the fervor was stoked by the same chuds
The thing about the Oklahoma University student's shitty paper that I keep thinking about is how much it reminds me of when Bari Weiss's sister got national media attention for writing an open letter to all the schools she didn't get into.

see it is galaxy-brained Middle East policy to let Israel do whatever war crimes it wants, because then they'll do more war crimes
The Israeli minister "of diaspora affairs and combatting antisemitism" wrote a long tirade yesterday on Twitter about Syria in which he said that "Damascus 2025 is Gaza 2008", seemingly calling for indiscriminate bombardment of the capital of Syria in response to Syrian resistance in Beit Junn

it's really wild to build your life view atop three loser pillars

The Crusaders
The Confederates
The Nazis
so I'm glad that this is getting more attention - the far right's obsession with the crusades is way more than just Hegseth's white supremacist tattoos

in this THREAD I'll collect some of my own recent work on how the American right has used the crusades

🧵 Every year since Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest event in Phoenix began, there has been an afterparty hosted by the Republicans for National Renewal fascists which brings together more of the extreme right that hangs around AmFest and multiple local elected officials. This year is no different…

Zionism is a Western imperial project dressed up as an "indigenous movement"
Note that, in identifying the Zionist entity as 'Western civilization's main enemy', he's revealing how this 'Anti-Zionism' of his is not a principled opposition to the Genocidal ideology-

But actually full blown antisemitism
Tucker Carlson tells Shawn Ryan’s show that Zionism is “an attack on Western civilization.”

Tucker also says that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is Western civilization’s “main enemy” and compares him to the Nazis.

if you look hard enough, there are war on terrors everywhere
Really looks like the United States is about to launch a regime change war against Venezuela with:

-No casus belli
-No authorization from Congress
-No allies or international support
-No plan for a post-Maduro Venezuela
-No preparation for any sort of stabilization or containment of the fallout
