AOC: An agency that is attacking U.S. citizens, kidnapping five-year-olds and using them as bait, and privately circulating the idea that they can violate the rights of Americans by busting down their doors—they deserve to be defunded, and I’ll take any step in that direction.

Are you now or have you ever been in cahoots with the notion that people can change?
When history happens again if you do or you did you'll be blamed.

For those outside the Twin Cities, the person posting this GoFundMe is a member of Minneapolis city council (and among the many locals doing absolutely heroic resistance to ICE), so it's legit.
Please help us bring Liam Adrian Cornejo Ramos (he’s only 5 years of age and is currently in pre-K. Yesterday, he and his father were kidnapped by ICE. This will help the family with legal services to help reunite Liam and his dad with their family.

Tried to make resistance playlist, got drunk and listened to Phil Ochs for four hours.

Honorable mention goes to Dave Van Ronk.

if two people are already restraining someone physically while spraying their face with pepper spray, that is torture, plain and simple. no debate to be had about it
This is a photo of someone being tortured, not someone being restrained

This was not the person I helped - this happened down the block after the first person got pepper sprayed. I was helping her out and saw tear gas being set off, so I assume this is from that. Horrifying.

Hey, hey, @startribune.com, what the FUCK is with calling people detained by ICE "suspects." The person they took, according to your own story, is SIXTEEN. Suspected of WHAT? existing while brown?

FUCK YOU.

Is it @startribune.com policy to refer to anyone confronting ICE as a protester? This obscures the nature of what people are doing. We're not protesting ICE. We're constitutional observers documenting human rights abuses by agents of the state.

also, just a note:

It's real funny to see PROTESTANTS mad about a protest in a church
I'm seeing a lot of conservative Christians *really upset* that protestors (many people of color) interrupted a church service this week to protest that one of the pastors at the church is the acting field director for ICE in St. Paul. One of my older friends said it was profaning the sacred.

We cannot normalize this federal occupation of Minneapolis.

It is not normal to watch people abducted in front of our eyes—dragged from car windows, pulled from their homes, and children left without parents.

This is not about immigration. It’s about unchecked cruelty.

This is what happened in our neighborhood yesterday. ICE snatched a human being off of our streets, roughed them up badly, and then pepper sprayed legal observers as they documented it all. This is a daily occurrence happening all throughout Minnesota right now.

DHS employees entered our store this afternoon and served us a Notice of Inspection, demanding copies of I9 forms for each employee.

In 27 years as shopkeepers, we have never been subjected to this type of investigation.

For @msnownews.bsky.social, I wrote an article about how ICE Watch is grounded in sociological theories of violence prevention.

The reality is that most men will only commit public violence in extremely specific scenarios and ICE Watch disrupts the conditions necessary for escalation.
Opinion | I'm a Minneapolis sociologist who studies violence. Here's how ICE observers are helping.
Research into how violence occurs shows that disapproval from the people around you can help reduce it.
