The transparent phone tablet thing the kid is holding in the super distant far future of... 11 years from now? Is very funny to me because of how disconnected AI folks are from how things are actually made, and the progression of real technology that people use.

May as well have had flying cars.

I agree on both fronts.

The online attention ecosystem rewards timeliness and urgency, so there's also the anecdotal problem of sending something too far out from becoming urgent, and coverage just doesn't happen because there's always something else that crops up.

I found out relatively recently that Winamp is not only still around but kept up to date, and it's incredibly nostalgic to hook up some tunes and stare at the Milkdrop visualizer like the towers haven't fallen yet.
