I AM VINDICATED AND JOYFUL

(also this gives fuel to @rabbimarkasherg.bsky.social and my longstanding conversation about whether or not dinosaurs would have been kosher for shabbos dinner but)

Important to know that Armstrong is a reverend and that she and the protesters felt compelled by faith as well their commitment to civil rights.

This is the state choosing which Christians they will support and which part of the 1A they will defend.

Christian nationalism in action.

But what is too much to bear? Not being alive. So we kept being alive even as they destroyed us. So we buried our secrets though they tried to extinguish our secrets with us. Up until this very day. They keep coming, they never stop. You couldn't kill us all. - Dead Astronauts

"Hahaha" said Gandalf, hitting his weed pen for the seventeeth time that hour. "Fuck".
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Tense scene earlier this afternoon as protesters follow Border Control Commander Greg Bovino and his caravan around in Minneapolis. At one point, Commander Bovino tussled with a protester, both slipping in the snow.

Under this policy, a service member could display a swastika in their quarters and it would no longer be automatically considered a hate incident.
U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

I know all of us who understand what is happening are experiencing mental health challenges because of that.

The only message of comfort I can offer to this community of readers is this: you are correct.

What you think is happening is really happening, and is just as concerning as you think it is.

How are y'all dealing with the cognitive dissonance of much of your daily life continuing as normal right now even as really really really bad shit is happening in government (that will certainly have ripple effects that will reach us all)? Because I'm honestly feeling a little insane right now.

It’s the job of every congressional democrat to grind the gears of government to a stop.

Right now. Block everything. Slow walk every committee. Call every vote. Filibuster every post office name change.

State Dems need to build parallel institutions to protect the people at home. GET TO WORK.

As someone on Medicaid, I can tell you that this is truly terrifying.
The Trump team shut down Medicaid payment portals in all 50 states yesterday, meaning doctors and hospitals couldn't be paid or perform services.

3 million North Carolinians - retirees, disabled, and hundreds of thousands of children - rely on Medicaid for healthcare.

Refuse media capitulation.
Jim Acosta announces on air that he's leaving CNN and says, "it is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant ... don't give in to the lies."
