A wave of immigration boosted enrollment at dozens of NYC schools. Now, their numbers are falling.
At dozens of schools that took in the largest shares of migrant students in recent years, enrollment fell by 11% over the past year, wiping away years of gains.

As threats to repro rights and gender-affirming care mount across the country, New York must do all it can to protect our personal health care decisions and ensure everyone can get the care they need.

Good. The indictment of Attorney General Letitia James is part of a long list of brazen abuses of power by the Trump administration.

Hands off Tish James.
A federal judge has dismissed the indictments against NY state Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI director James Comey, ruling that Lindsey Halligan – who brought both of the indictments – was improperly appointed.

Here's the order dismissing the James case without prejudice:

This warrantless home invasion by armed, unidentified immigration agents is the stuff of nightmares.

ICE's recklessness, lawlessness, and impunity puts everyone in danger. This cannot become normalized. ICE's terrorizing of our neighbors must end.

Every New Yorker deserves to be safe. But flooding communities with summonses and arrests won’t get us there. It only causes abuse, resentment, and needless incarceration.

True safety comes from addressing the root causes of harm with compassion - not punishment.
NYPD’s low-level arrests have surged under Tisch. Mamdani may end that streak.

This decision confirms what we’ve said for months: courthouses are no place for ICE agents to arrest people.

This is a significant victory, but the work doesn't end here: we will keep fighting in the courts to ensure ICE is also prohibited from conducting arrests in immigration courts.
