A hectic work schedule has prevented me from having some time to reflect on a fantastic trip to visit some Northern #Jomon UNESCO sites I recently took with @b-thom.bsky.social & archaeologist Shaun Canute from the Cowichan Tribes as part of a collaborative research project we're starting. 🏺

Looking through my photos, and I forgot to share one of my favorite parts of my Golden Jomon trip: Cultural Property Battle cards. Their stats are: Designation, Est. value, Rarity, Period. These are from Hachinohe in Aomori Prefecture. I would have absolutely tried to find them all with time.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages

Haven't sat down to post much about it, but I had the opportunity to present at the Society for East Asian Archaeology this summer & do a bit of touring while there. Took far too many photos, but I thought I'd share some for a bit. Here's one of the Norwich Cathedral that I like.
