We don't have woke anymore in this country. It's virtually illegal. You'll have a couple of wokesters."

This deal, secured with a controversial tax abatement from the city, made Trump's reputation. His partner at the time was the well-respected Pritzker family of Chicago, who owned the Hyatt chain. Their contract was specific: Trump and Jay Pritzker agreed that if there were any sticking points they would have a ten-day period to arbitrate their differences. At one point, they had a minor disagreement. "Jay Pritzker was leaving for a trip to Nepal, where he was to be incommunicado," a lawyer for the Pritzker family told me. "Donald waited until Jay was in the airplane before he called him. Naturally, Jay couldn't call him back. He was on a mountain in Nepal. Later, Donald kept saying, 'I tried to call you. I gave you the ten days. But you were in Nepal. It was outrageous. Pritzker was his partner, not his enemy! This is how he acted on his first important deal." Trump later even reported the incident in his book.

"The legislation as written, has language in it from Sen. McConnell that would destroy the hemp industry. We have hemp farmers in our state," Paul said. McConnell advocated for the hemp provision in 2018 but has since soured on the law. At a Senate markup this year, McConnell said the legalization of hemp in that bill has resulted in “an unintended consequence that has allowed for intoxicating hemp-derived synthetic products to be made and sold."

MIAMI (AP) — FIFA has announced the creation of a peace prize, which it plans to award at the draw for the World Cup on Dec. 5 in Washington. The award, called the FIFA Peace Prize, will "recognize exceptional actions for peace," soccer's governing body said Wednesday. "In an increasingly unsettled and divided world, it's fundamental to recognize the outstanding contribution of those who work hard to end conflicts and bring people together in a spirit of peace," FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. FIFA said the award, which Infantino will present this year, will be bestowed annually "on behalf of fans from all around the world."
