I love how MN refuses to return this to Virginia.

AOC: This has now become what we feared most about ICE for a long time—that it would be used as an anti-civilian force with no accountability. At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.

Excellent, clarifying piece on the (real) legal pathway that Minnesota has to prosecute the ICE agent who shot and killed a woman today.

No, federal agents do not have absolute immunity from start charges, no matter what the Trump administration claims.
Wrote a piece for @slate.com explaining that states have a long history of prosecuting federal officers when they allegedly use excessive force. Federal officers are only immune from such prosecutions when they act reasonably in carrying out lawful duties.

Essentially any specialized, distinct area of law—patents, immigration, and labor all come to mind—should run through specialized judges appointed based on merit for long terms and supervised by district court judges, to whom their Reports and Recommendations are appealable.

yep, i kind of think you can use supreme court reform as a vehicle through which to do a large, and necessary, expansion of the entire federal judiciary
"Expand the number and types of inferior judicial officers like magistrate judges and bankruptcy judges overseen by district courts, which are also tripled in size," more and more people are saying.
massively increase the number of immigration judges, make them real courts, and give as many people as possible clean in-out decisions within in 90 days is the 'install linux, problem solved' of immigration issues in that the solution is not really complicated, it's just really hard
