Diagnosed and denied at 9. I was not getting good grades but I was ”well behaved at home” with a strange but capable father who I liked better than most teachers. Put into special ed for behavior. My dad thought I was depressed. When I was a baby, he thought I was autistic… but im adhd/autistic.

I do feel a sense my future was stolen from me… like Im just smart and aware enough to find the at times catatonic shut downs not great. For disability to be intensely boring. and incable enough that I need help with some basic activities (mostly in the form of structured days and cleaning).

As an autistic person myself… when does the care kick in for adults 🤔 its been 16 years of being without structure.

I never understand the “voters are blameless and it’s impossible for anything to be their fault” idea.
“Democracy” literally means “people power.” The entire idea is that the people get to collectively make choices. And they can make bad ones.
