🏳️‍⚧️ not going gently into that fucking night, i can tell you that
something especially insidious is that actual right-wing terrorists, and law enforcement, have been attacking people with their cars for years. somewhere behind the awfulness of murdering nicole good is the fact that they are accusing her of the same thing as the killer of Heather Heyer

boom roasted
It often happens that someone will read or watch something from a decade or even a century in the past and say "This person predicted the future", when all they really did was describe their present and we failed to change in the time since.

just a reminder that you do not have to listen to what Quentin Tarantino says about anything ever

it’s possible to think pulp fiction is fun and still recognize that his opinions are trash. even if there was a logical point to slagging Paul Dano—and there isn’t—it’s just an incredibly shitty move

this is the only way one of these scumbags should “reënter the culture:” as a complete fucking joke so we can all laugh at the depths to which he’s fallen. shame on anyone taking money to rehabilitate the image of a sex criminal. still laugh/cringing at The New Yorker’s absolute spineless turpitude

put your hands together for The Aristocrats
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

Listen here, I will not take this Babu Frik slander. I love that little shit, a lone beacon of joy out of a movie of pure spite.

People who use genAI *first* use it on the parts of a project they give the least shit about, and are most incurious about.

They spray the low-hanging fruit with dogshit.

this "ten years" thing today is…a lot. been on ‘mones 7 years and for a long time assumed the inner changes would turn into outer ones and id bloom while boymoding. turns out it dont work that way (mostly) now im speedrunning a for-real transition. still have no clue how to go about it, overwhelming

we took the power to message the whole world, hooked that system up to the natural flow of wealth, and eventually to the halls of power and the literal government. now the dumbest, people in our society are both in charge of everything and clowning themselves online with the dumbest takes imaginable

at this point i would take almost any alternate-universe off-ramp in the hope that it doesn’t end up back here.
One of my spicier takes is that the country would have been better off if Nixon had won in ‘60. No Camelot shit, Nixon is far less of a resentful maniac than ‘68-‘74 (and thus no Watergate), good chance a Dem wins in ‘64 anyway, probably Humphrey or McCarthy, so Civil Rights happens anyway, etc.

jamelle’s takes here are sensible, but if you go into the replies you can see the familiar spectacle of SW fans dueling over which non-OT movie is the least mid.

it’s fine to say the best ones are what you saw when you were six. everything else is a crapshoot. each has a blorbo worth defending.
i would push rogue one down and bring solo and the last jedi up. i’d also place attack of the clones at the bottom.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”
