There is no exception.
Yo #Touhou fans! Fanime is hosting the first ever large scale English-speaking doujin event in the United States. I'll be selling a Touhou based bestiary and animal guide, written by me, and illustrated by ProfitWalrus! More info on this soon.

I feel like computer vision hasn't moved that much since vision transformers were published in 2020.

VLMs (vision language models) are way too damn expensive to run at scale, nor scale down for constrained environments.

Shower thought: cargo should give a heads up/warning when a crate update changes owners.

Might also be useful to have a tool to visualize the total set of crate owners in your dep tree.

There's a good idea: LobotomyTV. Turn a smart TV into a dumb one.

Or just remove the shitty spyware off of them.

Great, now we have AI boosters suggesting you should employ technical guidance from influencers on Twitter, and use potentially unauthorized tools on NDA'ed code at your company. If you get fired, it'll at least be a good story. 🙃 Absolute insanity.

I wonder if it's possible to get approval to publish on Steam without a Windows build.

Drop a kamige on Steam. Officially support only Linux builds. Refer anyone who wants a Windows build to the source code and assets and tell them to figure it out.

Discord really wants to pump those pre-IPO engagement numbers. Adding a call timer to voice channels really creates some perverse incentives.

Clearly it's working, here's a voice call that has been going on for over 2000 hours straight now.

2026 is getting off to a real bad start. No parent should need to bury their child, especially when they themselves are dying, yet here we are.

Don't worry little isekai fan, we have enough slop to keep you entertained for the rest of your life!

Sarge, get us some more cheat skills! Boy's bored!

First day back to work in 2026, new policy states we should only use company approved GenAI coding tools.

Yesterday, principal eng at my company openly tweeting about recreating last year's work w/ Claude.

What the fuck.

Apparently nobody gives a shit anymore.

Man I thought we left the abysmal dogshit blue checkmark hot takes back on Twitter. Sad to see that hasn't changed.

Every AI generated PR I'm asked to review can't even pass CI. How one reconciles these claims with this reality is beyond me. Am I just not spending $100k+ on my Anthropic bill?
Jaana was a distinguished engineer at GitHub and is now a principal engineer at Google.

I expect more testimonials from accomplished engineers about productivity gains of AI in 2026.

Engineers claiming AI tools don’t work well will increasingly look like a skill issue than a problem with AI tools

I've been finding people talking to me or others like they're talking to an LLM.

I respond to them the same way I query Gemini: with prompt injections and death threats against their families.

The more I use it the more I like how Syncthing works. No server, no cloud necessary, fully encrypted, as private as one needs to be, and otherwise set-and-forget. For most people with only a small handful of devices, primarily connected via their home networks, it seems ideal for most apps.

Rediscovered my childhood hobby of speedcubing. Haven't seriously tried in about 15 years, and I'm still under 45 seconds on the 3x3. Pretty good now with these beefy man-hands.

These modern speedcubes are insane! Would've never thought we'd see maglev tech in these puzzles for children.

I don't know what they've been doing with the new GitHub UI, but this is borderline unusable. Marking a notification as done flashbangs me with a white screen, the UI crawls when showing me basic CI status, and is struggling to load my own personal repos. The Zig devs had the right idea to leave.

Gave Typst a whirl to update my resume for the first time in 4 years. I love it! Its such a better experience than using LaTeX, and seems to come batteries included that it doesn't need to clutter my OS packages.

For someone who has even a remote understanding of how to build a modern website, every part of interacting with administering a Squarespace website is utter pain. Outside of giving free reign to non-technical types, there should be zero reason why we build sites on that suffocating platform.

Just mere days after I unfreeze my credit, I get hit with an identity fraud attempt. Spent the majority of yesterday dealing with the credit agencies with limited success. This is ridiculous.

Sometimes I wish airlines would just anesthetize me, pack us all in like sardines, and wake us all up on the other side. Would save us the trouble of being bored 10,000+ ft in the air for 5-18 hours, and they'd likely be able to sell more tickets.
